The original Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) in Florence, Italy*

The doors at Ponte Vecchio Bridge, which separated Area 3's two main sections of "sea", were opened on March 19, signaling the completion of the filling of the area.  On Friday, March 24, a ceremony was held to commemorate the milestone.  Filling then began at the backstage area of docks, located between Mediterranean Harbor and Arabian Coast on March 25th and was completed on March 28th.  The Palazzo Canals,  a relatively small area adjacent to the south complex of Hotel MiraCosta, is the only location which remains to be filled.

* Ponte Vecchio Bridge at DisneySea uses classic Disney forced perspective, in addition to several other architectural liberties. But, like the original, it will be lined with food stands and small shops.

I've spoken with two people who've seen the original and DisneySea versions of Ponte Vecchio Bridge. Both said that DisneySea's is much nicer. :)

Right now, Ponte Vecchio Bridge is hidden treasure in the middle of DisneySea.

Storm Footage

This MD 900 helicopter spent much of March 26th repeatedly following an identical looping course which took it over and around the Tokyo Disney Resort.  Sources tell me it was shooting a portion of the ride film for DisneySea's motion simulator based attraction, StormRider.

S.S. Columbia

On March 26, testing started on S.S. Columbia's smoke stacks.  Smoke could be seen coming from all three of her stacks.

You'll have to look closely... It was an especially hazy day.
