Creator and Artistic Director Jim Mason
Jim Mason the creator and Artistic Directory of "The Power of Blast!" spoke next:
Boy, what a journey this has been. We started a group in Bloomington, Indiana called the Star of Indiana, back in the fall of 1984. And at that time my goal was just to get the kids on and off the bus. So to win a Tony this year in June and we just now have recently won an emmy for best choreography its just been an amazing ride. But this has always been about are the young performers who participate. They've been here now rehearsing for a day and a half so you're going to see them in rehearsal mode so to speak. We did throw their costumes on and for the last day and a half we've (tapped) this number a little bit so you can get a flavor of what the power of Blast is about. When we started this particular venture it was just a labor of love. It just kept evolving from being a world class championship drum and bugle corps and then taking the skills of the young performers and placing them in a theatrical setting. We could not have done this, this was not just created by Jim Mason, this is created by the young performers you will see on this stage along with my creative team that consists of the award winning choreography team of John Bandercoff (John Please stand up), George Finey (there's George i n the back), and also I have a musical director by the name of Jim Fine who is not here and associate director and producer Don Van Doren.
Ladies and Gentlemen without any further conversation I'd like to present to you the Power of Blast! featuring a particular number conveying the passion of red, malagania.
Ladies and gentlemen, Blast.
