Bob Gurr
The last speaker for our sub-group was Bob Gurr. He spoke at the small Frontierland Amphitheater just outside the entrance to Rancho del Zocalo. Bob started his speech by apologizing in advance for any inconsistencies between what he said today and what he's said or written in the past. As you tell and retell stories, memories evolve and things don't always come out the same way. Gurr talked about how in the early days of Disneyland, there weren't experts in every field. Instead Walt asked people on his team to learn how to do it. As Gurr put it, it was like a free college education. In Gurr's case, he was a car stylist, was hired on at Disney, and quickly became a car designer and engineer for the Autopia.
