One of the park’s mainstays for the celebration is Minnie’s Birthday Surprise which has replaced the popular Mulan show in the Videopolis theatre in Discoveryland. This genuinely pleasant and well presented show probably held more of a surprise for us, than for Mickey, the surprise guest. If the inclusion of DCA’s Steps in Time theme brought a smile to the face, the finale of Light Magic’s Dream our Dreams certainly had us wide mouthed in amazement!

As pin trading has now started to take hold at the resort, pin enthusiasts got a special opportunity for the day. A limited birthday pin along with open stock pins were released, and the artists, were not only there to sign the pins, but to draw one of the Fab Five for each guest that waited in line. I sat on the curb and waited in my parade spot, enlivened by kids and their balloons and rewarded for place-holding by my favourite snack at the park, a Croque Monsieur from the Market House Deli. The pin line went long into the Wonderful World World of Disney Parade, now infused with an extra birthday cake float and the birthday song. This was a positive addition to the long running parade, and was matched with both an enthusiastic cast and crowd.
