Esai Morales, earlier in the day, told reporters that he is happy his character illustrates a strong Latino figure, a character that "doesn't rest on his ethnicity. Who does not use it either as a shield or as a way to propel himself. He just happens to be Latino." He also welcomed Jacqueline Obradors who portrays Puerto Rican cop Detective Rita Ortiz.
