Tokyo Disneyland's Disney's Dreams on Parade
Page 5 of 5

This particular parade is one of the longest in TDL history. The "parade mode runs at around 25 minutes itself, in addition to the three "show modes. At three points along the performance corridor from Fantasyland to Toontown, the parade draws to a halt as the nearly 200 performers invite guests to "make a wish. Dancers allow guests to join them in front of the floats, as bubble machine pump thousands of tiny soap suds into the air. The show mode is an opportunity for the Disney characters and cast members to thank the guests for making Tokyo Disneyland the Kingdom of Dreams and Magic. A lively and highly energetic theme by TDL's other staff writer, Jonathan Barr has an interactive element, as guests join their favourite characters in waving their hands in an imaginative (and somewhat complex for those of us without rhythm!) fashion. This stationary performance is only a few minutes in length, but is an emotive and electric spectacle, as guests young and old close their eyes, sway from side to side, wishing on the nearest star.

On a personal note, I would rate this as one of the greatest character parades in Disney history. The theme has not been explored before and has elements that will please all guests. Too often I have found recent American parades to be aimed just at kids. Only Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade has captured my imagination and demanded repeat viewings.

In future updates, Lindsay and I plan on taking Laughingplace readers on comprehensive reviews of the Disney Ambassador and Tokyo Disney Sea Hotel MiraCosta and other unique Tokyo elements, beginning with the Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall, the finest example of an imagineered restaurant in any Magic Kingdom.
