Mission: Space - New Horizons?
Ultimately, Mission:Space will attract guests back to EPCOT for a new experience. The attraction has the all-important repeatability factor, which will bring back guests. The queues will no doubt be huge and Fastpass will run out early. Therefore, on busy days, guests will have to expect to queue for either Space or Test Track, thus spending more time in the area. However, the complexities of marketing the attraction, especially as it does not fit into any one category, such as coaster, 3-D movie or simulator will be a stumbling block. This should easily be balanced by positive word of mouth, and has been the case throughout the Test & Adjust phase.
However, is it enough to return EPCOT to its glory days?

EPCOT @ 25?
The expectation of success for Mission:Space can be felt throughout EPCOT.
Much is riding on this new E-ticket, to bring in new and repeat guests for an
experience that is unique to this park. The stakes are high, as the park is
desperate to reverse its declining attendance. It is a vicious circle, as
falling numbers through the turnstile, leads to less revenue, which ultimately
leads to the need to cut costs by reducing hours (and hence overheads) or at the
extreme, shutting facilities completely. There are plenty of competitors to
EPCOT (including the other WDW parks) all competing ferociously for tourist
dollars. In this post-September 11 world, this vicious scrap for spending is
even more acute. Mission:Space is a step in the right direction.
