LP: Your events have been incredibly successful and have frequently sold-out. Which brings us to next May back here on the west coast at the Disneyland Resort.

MY: Yes, we’re going to rock your world with our “Disney Blast to the Past? at the Disneyland Resort, May 14 - 16, 2004. It’s a salute to all things Disney created between 1950 and 1963, which was an incredible period of creativity for Walt Disney and his staff. From films, TV, Disneyland, merchandise, music and such. It was also the atomic age and the space age, the cold war and rock and roll, hula-hoops and poodle skirts, jukeboxes and jive. Overall, the era was just plain fun! And we’re delighted to be back at the Disneyland Resort.

LP: What kinds of surprises are in store for guests who attend your “Blast to the Past??

MY: Well I’m not going to leak any secrets here but our past attendees know that we always keep a few surprises under wraps until the actual event. However, I can tell you that everyone will be welcomed back as returning students to the fictional Medfield College, which was featured in so many classic Disney films of the era including “The Absent-Minded Professor,? “Son of Flubber? and later “The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes.? We like to think of Medfield as “The College of Disney Knowledge,? so we hope our returning “student? do their homework before next May.

LP: Well that sounds like fun but can’t you tell us just one little secret?

MY: No, but I can tell you that we’re encouraging everyone to wear their finest 50s/early 60s attire (no hippies) for our big Saturday night event. Anyone wearing saddle shoes, penny loafers, poodle skirts, jeans, leather jackets, pompadours, cat glasses, etc. will fit right in.

LP: We’re not Baby-Boomers, we grew-up with “The Brady Bunch? and the 70s version of “The Mickey Mouse Club? - - so will you need to be a Baby-Boomer to enjoy this event?

MY: Not at all. If you’re a fan of classic 50s/early 60s rock n’ roll (prior to The Beatles), films like “Grease? and the timeless Disney product of the era (some of which I mentioned before) - you will have a great time. The era we’re celebrating transcends all age groups - - ask any toddler to do The Twist and somehow they instinctly know what to do!

LP: What kind of merchandise will be available?

MY: I’m glad you asked. I thought your readers would like to see previews of two of our featured WDCC sculptures for the event.

First up is “Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier,? as sculpted by Kent Melton. “Davy Crockett? was an incredible hit in 1954/55 for the Walt Disney Studios, and Fess Parker is such a beloved Disney Legend that we felt that this was an ideal subject for one of our sculpts . . . Kent has done just an incredible job.
