Mickey's Winter Wonderland

Once again, Disneyland park were able to bring back two seasonal favourites in the form of Mickey's Christmas in the Fantasy Festival Stage and Mickey's Winter Wonderland in the Chaparral Theatre. The former is beginning to look increasingly tired and frayed around the edges with its Roy Lichenstein-inspired sets and Kids of the Kingdom-style performers in yellow and white pyjamas. However, the fans are loyal and every show is packed to the rafters. Although just a walkthrough of a series of Christmas tunes, from traditional works such as the Nutcracker to fare such as Let it Snow! Let it Snow! the show is entertaining and appropriately seasonal!

Mickey's Winter Wonderland is a more professional and slicker show in the cavernous space that is the Chaparral Theatre, nestled in the far corner of Frontierland. The giant stage is more appropriate for grander spectacles such as this show and the summer offering of Tarzan. During the Christmas season, the show is equipped with an ice skating rink, rolling snow-covered hills and Donald's Fishing Cabin. The Fab Five plus Chip ‘n' Dale are in residence in this show, accompanied by two human leads (both miming) as they run through some festive numbers. In addition, the cast are joined by some Country Bears (who would be largely alien to Paris visitors, as the park has no Jamboree to boast of and can be found throughout the park at Christmas time), who are awoken from their hibernation by the musical celebrations. The show has an equal amount of humour and humility and is unquestionably, the best Christmas show at any Disney park.
