With these words, Matt temporarily relinquished the stage as a short film gave a more complete look at the year in review. Starting out with the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, with a float featuring Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, it moved quickly through the January Kick-off, golden attraction vehicle dedications with Julie Andrews, Block Party Bash, the Parade of Dreams, celebrities on the Gold Carpet, the Opera House exhibit dedication with Steve Martin, the dedication of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters with Tim Allen, the New fireworks display, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger speaking at Disneyland on July 17.

There were images of the California Senate passing a resolution honoring Disneyland, the 2005 AIDS Walk, and from Washington DC the delivery of a Teacup and Dumbo attraction vehicle to the Smithsonian Institution. The Happiest Faces on Earth murals were detailed, followed by a testimonial from the head of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.

More highlights followed in profusion: the one million dollar donation made by Disneyland to the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim; the unveiling of Disneyland’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; and Disneyland “ringing the bell? at the New York Stock Exchange. Back at the resort, Turtle Talk with Crush was opened to the public, and a special window on Main Street was dedicated to all Disneyland cast members.

Another testimonial was offered, this time by the President of Yellow Cab in Orange County, who stated that business was up 10% for the year. This was followed by a medley of news clippings highlighting the Disneyland 50th celebration, culminating in a video clip of California state congresswoman Loretta Sanchez lauding the Resort on C-SPAN.

Again, back at home, CHOC Walk and the Make-a-Wish Foundation’s 25th Anniversary were both celebrated at Disneyland.

Monsters Inc: Mike and Sully to the Rescue opened in Disney’s California Adventure. A small business owner was then shown, offering his testimonial about the Disneyland Resort’s positive economic impact. The screen filled with snapshot images of guests and celebrities, ending with Diane Disney Miller and her father delivering the opening day dedication speech: “To all who come to this happy place, welcome…?
