Welcome to Monstropolis!

The new area is, naturally, an improvement over the original. Landscaping and a fountain can make a lot of difference instead of sun soaked concrete. The attraction front is arty and fun; a child’s vision of a mountain of doors and some of the creatures lurking behind them.

Not a long wait, and I can read a synopsis of the ride while
Roz glares disapprovingly.

Child proofing: Not a job, but an adventure!

Clever posters hang throughout the queue.

Throughout the queue were clever posters advertising some of the sights of Monstropolis. My favorite poster is Harryhausen’s, named after the famed special effects pioneer. It is a respectable sushi joint, boasting such delicacies as Terriyuki (made with vulture cutlets). Public service announcements are playing on the monitors that once frightened children with nightmare visions of Joan Rivers. The humor is low key and pleasant, and the time passes quickly. Besides the fun posters, I wish there was a little more ambiance. Obviously, TDA wanted this ride installed quickly, so the queue is the same as Superstar Limo. But that’s a minor quibble.
