Save for the Fast Play and Disney Song Selection features and a new set top game (Merlins Magical Academy), all of the bonus features included are carry-overs from the Gold Collection edition of The Sword in the Stone from a few years back. Arent exactly going all out for the big 45th anniversary, are we?; especially considering that only roughly half of these bonus features have anything directly to do with the main feature.

Music Magic: The Sherman Brothers focuses on the scant few songs that the famous siblings added to the movie, their first animated feature gig for Disney. In fact, they only discuss one song that is actually in the movie (Higitus Figitus, a typical nonsense tune from the duo); most of the featurette focuses on the deleted songs, Blue Oak Tree and The Magic Key.

The Backstage Disney section includes an excerpt from the Disneyland TV episode All About Magic, with your host Walt Disney paying a visit to the studios Magic Property Room. No mention is made of Sword in the Stone at all, although he does chant Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo a couple of times and calls forth the Slave in the Magic Mirror. A Sword in the Stone scrapbook gallery and a text-only Film Facts are also included, as are two bonus shorts with similar medieval themes, Goofys A Knight for a Day and Mickeys classic Brave Little Taylor.

All in all, 45th anniversary or not, perhaps they should have just left this sword in the stone.
