Animal Kingdom: Finding Nemo: The Musical

I started going to Disneyland regularly in 1995 shortly after the closing of the Beauty and the Beast Show there (a much different experience than the Hollywood Studios version, I’m told). That was in the midst of a real heyday for Disneyland entertainment with Beauty and the Beast, the Pocahontas stage show, the Festival of Fools and The Lion King Celebration - a really amazing 3 or 4 years. Moving to Florida and frequenting Walt Disney World, the entertainment difference was a big disappointment with Tarzan Rocks, Beauty and the Beast at the Studios, Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends and the like not being able to come close to even Disneyland’s newer shows like Anamazement and Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular. So when I heard they were going to do a stage version of Finding Nemo called Finding Nemo: The Musical, my expectations were low. But I was blown away. Disney did an amazing job creating songs that seem like they were always a part of the movie (when I watch the movie now it seems to be missing something). The puppet motif works very well. It’s got a bona fide showstopper with Go With the Flow, and the same great story as the film (which means even more to me now that I’m a father). I believe it’s the best Disney Parks stage show I’ve ever seen - and that would include the great Festival of Fools at Disneyland and all the Disney Cruise Lines shows.
