2002 will be the biggest, boldest year yet for pin trading at Walt Disney World Resort with seven, specially themed pin events planned throughout the calendar and across the Vacation Kingdom. Pin enthusiasts can select event themes ranging from princesses to dinosaurs. Each event will include a series of limited edition pins. Visitors can follow specially designed "pin pursuits," winding their way through each location on a quest for the perfect set of pins. Disney pin artists will be on hand to sign their creations, and some events will have pin auctions featuring one-of-a-kind finds. Guests can also buy a "pin event package" which gives them first access to the limited edition pins, special meals, character meet and greets and more.

George McGinnis, retired from Walt Disney Imagineering along with Dave Williams of Caruso Affiliated Holdings has designed a wireless double deck, open-air trolley that will carry a maximum of 62 passengers and run at a maximum speed of five miles per hour. It will provide transportation along a loop between The Grove and the historic Farmers Market in Los Angeles, making the trip in six minutes and 12 seconds with three intermediate stops.

Grand Toys International, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement to act as the Canadian distributor -- through current Walt Disney Records' licensee Universal Music -- at selected accounts in Central and Eastern Canada, for Walt Disney Records products. The agreement allows Grand Toys (through Universal Music) to distribute and sell storyteller releases from Walt Disney Records. The Walt Disney Company today reported earnings for the quarter ended December 31, 2001. On an as-reported basis, revenues decreased 5% to $7.0 billion and segment operating income decreased 39% to $753 million. Net income and earnings per share were $438 million and $0.21, respectively for the quarter, flat to the prior-year amounts adjusted for the impact of the new goodwill and intangible asset accounting rules. The current period includes the operations of ABC Family and the incremental interest expense for acquisition-related borrowings beginning October 24, 2001, the acquisition date. Results for the current quarter also include a $216 million pre-tax gain on the sale of investments discussed more fully below. Excluding this gain, earnings per share for the quarter were $0.15.
