A.D. “Bud” Albers has been appointed as chief technology officer (CTO) of the Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG). WDIG develops and delivers interactive Disney-branded media for Internet and mobile devices for audiences around the world and also provides centralized development support and a world-class technology for all of the Internet properties of The Walt Disney Company. Reporting to WDIG President Steve Wadsworth, Albers will be responsible for leading technological breakthroughs on existing platforms as well as developing cutting-edge new technology solutions in support of the company’s new media technology needs. He will begin on January 2, 2008.

Disneyland Welcomes Rose Bowl-Bound Illinois and Southern California Football Teams Wednesday, December 26 - (DL) (12/21/2007)
The ongoing “Year of a Million Dreams” celebration at Disneyland Resort  will bring the dream teams of the 2008 Rose Bowl Game presented by Citi, to Disneyland on the day after Christmas. Mickey Mouse, the Disneyland Band and an enthusiastic crowd of football fans will welcome the two squads and their coaches when the teams make their first official appearance of the Rose Bowl season at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 26.        


Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Vice President of Global Special Events Named 2008 Rose Parade Float Judge - (DL) (12/20/2007)
Vice President of Global Special Events for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Bryan Wittman has been appointed by the Tournament of Roses as one of three float judges for the 119th Rose Parade. Wittman and his fellow judges, Sam Lemheney and Jessica Todd Smith, will select 24 winning entries in a variety of categories in the Parade, themed "Passport to the World's Celebrations." Awards are based on creative design, floral craftsmanship, artistic merit, computerized animation, thematic interpretation, floral and color presentation, and dramatic impact.

Upscale Lounge Opens at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort - (DL) (12/17/2007)
Rix Lounge, offering an upscale nighttime experience with house music, specialty drinks, tapas-style appetizers and rotating entertainment, has opened at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World Resort. The 300-seat, 5,000 sq. ft. venue with a Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere is "a unique, sophisticated lounge for the conference guests that visit Disney each year," said Richard Debler, president of Springs Foods Service, which operates the location.

Bob Iger and 150 Disney Volunteers build playground for Boys and Girls Club of East LA - (DL) (12/13/2007)
The Walt Disney Company's President and CEO, Bob Iger, and 150 other Disney VoluntEARS, including the Company's senior management team, continued their commitment to give back to local communities and rolled up their sleeves today to build a new playground for the kids of the Boys and Girls Club of East Los Angeles. Known as the "freeway club," as it is located between two major highways, this Club daily serves more than 300 low-income children in the immediate neighborhood. For this "done in a day" project, hundreds of volunteers from Disney and the Boys & Girls Club built a playground that was designed with the help of the children. The project was completed in collaboration with KaBOOM!, TreePeople and other local community members. The group was later joined by Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa who participated in a special dedication ceremony further demonstrating his recognition of the Company's ongoing commitment to the City of Los Angeles.
