Disney's Animal Programs Leads International Effort to Help Africa Manage Growing Elephant Populations - (DL) (7/31/2008)
Disney’s Animal Programs is leading an international coalition of veterinarians, conservation groups, zoos, universities and private industry to conduct a series of procedures to effectively sterilize male elephants and help reduce the elephant birth rates in areas of South Africa. The team expects to perform laparoscopic vasectomies on eight bull elephants at the Pongola Game Reserve in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

Harriet Burns Obituary from Disney - (DL) (7/28/2008)
Harriet Burns, designated as a Disney Legend by The Walt Disney Company in 2000, and former Disney Imagineer, died on July 25 at the age of 79. As the first woman ever hired by Walt Disney Imagineering in a creative rather than an office capacity, Harriet Burns helped design and build prototypes for theme park attractions, as well as final products featured at Disneyland and the New York World's Fair of 1964.

Stan Lee, visionary co-creator of Spider-Man, X-Men, Iron Man, The Hulk, Daredevil and the Fantastic Four, is teaming up with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) to introduce a revolutionary new concept in original superheroes and the comic book format: Time Jumper, which will become the industry’s most ambitious digital comic book series ever designed to release on multiple platforms. In addition to the ‘Time Jumper’ initiative, The Walt Disney Studios announced an extension of Stan Lee’s POW Entertainment, Inc production deal that covers all forms of media from movies and television through to publishing, games, the Internet and mobile-Web.

United Arts Partners with Walt Disney World Cast Members for Annual Benefit July 23-25 - (DL) (7/24/2008)
Each year, Walt Disney World’s Encore! Cast Choir & Orchestra gives all Walt Disney World cast members and their families the opportunity to perform in a choral/orchestral environment. Proceeds from each concert are given to a designated local charity or nonprofit organization. Last year, Encore! raised nearly $14,000 for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Central Florida. This year United Arts has been selected as its beneficiary.

Rasulo will be honored during a dinner attended by several hundred travel industry leaders October 28th in Portland, Oregon during the Marketing Outlook Forum, an annual industry conference run by the Travel Industry Association (TIA). Distinguished individuals are named to the Hall of Leaders for “sustained, noteworthy contributions that have positively impacted the travel industry, stimulated greater achievement, and raised industry-wide standards.”
