Worlds Best Disney Jungle Cruise Skippers 'Spiel' Their Way to Tokyo Disney Resort - (DL) (3/31/2009)

 

Earning distinction as two of the worlds best Jungle Cruise skippers, Walt Disney World Resort Cast Members Beth Schafer and Alex Williams were recently chosen to represent the resort at Tokyo Disney Resorts 25th Anniversary Celebration. Emerging from their helm in the darkest wilds of the Magic Kingdom, Schafer and Williams earned their overseas excursion thanks to their knack for spinning humorous spiels and stories. They competed against 35 skippers to win their spots, auditioning in front of a panel of judges from Walt Disney World and Walt Disney Imagineering who scored them on performance and punch lines. In Anaheim, Jungle Cruise skippers Kevin Lively and Mickey Wright were chosen as representatives of the Disneyland Resort.

 



Billy Ray Cyrus to Release New Album, Back to Tennessee on April 7 Featuring Hit Title Track and Duet with Daughter, Miley Cyrus - (DL) (3/31/2009)

Pushing deeper into his rock and country music roots, Billy Ray Cyrus is set to release Back to Tennessee, his newest CD for Walt Disney Records. The album features 12 new tracks, including "Butterfly, Fly Away" a moving duet between Billy Ray and his daughter, Miley Cyrus, from the upcoming film "Hannah Montana The Movie," which opens April 10. Back to Tennessee arrives in stores April 7. Cyrus will perform the hit debut single, "Back to Tennessee" on "Good Morning America" on April 8; on "Regis and Kelly" also on April 8 and on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on April 13.



Sanaa Brings Flavors of India, Africa To Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge May 1st - (DL) (3/31/2009)

Fans of Jiko-The Cooking Place and Boma-Flavors of Africa have a new reason to dine at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge as Sanaa debuts May 1 in the resort’s new Kidani Village expansion. The new Walt Disney World restaurant’s unusual name, pronounced “Sah-NAH,” is the Swahili word for “artwork.” With interiors inspired by African art and remarkable views of the resort’s Sunset Savannah through 9-foot windows, diners experience “the art of African cooking with Indian flavors” in the 150-seat, family-oriented restaurant located on the ground floor just below the lobby.

Disney's Alice in Wonderland to be Released to 3D March 5, 2010 - (DL) (3/31/2009)

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and IMAX Corporation today announced that Alice in Wonderland, directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Mia Wasikowska as Alice, will be released to IMAX(R) theatres simultaneously with the film's wide release on March 5, 2010. The special IMAX(R) 3D release will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience(R) with IMAX DMR(R) (Digital Re-Mastering) technology. This is the third film confirmed out of the five-film agreement between IMAX and Disney, which was announced on November 19, 2008.

Disney Interactive Studios Reveals Top Secret Details for G-Force Video Game - (DL) (3/30/2009)

The government will look to a new type of secret agent to help protect the planet this summer – an elite force of guinea pigs. Disney Interactive Studios today announced it will publish the G-Force video game, inspired by the upcoming feature film “G-Force” from Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films. G-Force is scheduled to deploy to North American retail outlets in July 2009.



Disney Cruise Line to Homeport Disney Wonder at the Port of Los Angeles - (DL) (3/30/2009)

 

(March 30, 2009) Disney Cruise Line announced today that it plans to reposition the Disney Wonder from its Florida base in Port Canaveral to the West Coast in 2011.  The company is working with the Port of Los Angeles to finalize a two-year agreement with a three-year extension option.  The contract will be considered by the Port of Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners on April 2, 2009.
