The El Capitan Theatre Welcomes the Return of Cars 2 and Winnie the Pooh

Cars 2 Makes it 12 in a Row for Pixar at $68 Million
As expected, Cars 2 was the box office leader in its opening weekend, the 12th Pixar release in a row to win that title. At a 3-day gross of $68 million it did a bit better than expected, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com, but was not particularly noteworthy for a Pixar film.

With 63 reviews in (as of this writing) - Cars 2 has a 38% score on RottenTomatoes.com with the summary "Cars 2 is as visually appealing as any other Pixar production, but all that dazzle can't disguise the rusty storytelling under the hood.". By comparison Cars scored a 74% - the lowest of all the Pixar films scored on the website. Could this be Pixar's first clunker?
Update: With 118 critics now reporting the percentage is now 34%. The Top Critics score is 43% (35 critics)

First Four Minutes of Lion King 3D to Show in Front of Cars 2 3D
Disney has announced audiences will have a chance to see the first four minutes of The Lion King in 3D in theaters in front of Cars 2 3D. The Lion King 3D his theaters for 2 weeks on September 16, 2011 before going to a Diamond Edition release on October 4rd in Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D.
Update: We have been informed the preview will be shown in selected theaters only. Not in all 3D theaters.

Set in new owner Bonnie’s bedroom, “Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation” features Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) and Buzz (voice of Tim Allen) and the rest of the favorite “Toy Story 3” toys as they create the ultimate Hawaiian vacation for Ken (voice of Michael Keaton) and Barbie (voice of Jodi Benson). It seems Ken badly miscalculated their travel arrangements, so the gang has to create a dream getaway in Bonnie’s Midwestern bedroom—in the middle of winter. “Hawaiian Vacation” also features the voices of Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, Blake Clark, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Kristen Schaal, Jeff Garlin and John Ratzenberger. “Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation” appears exclusively with CARS 2 in theaters everywhere on June 24th.

Goodyear Re-Teams with Disney and Pixar to Support the Release of Cars 2
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company today announced the details of its promotion of Disney and Pixar's high-octane animated comedy adventure "Cars 2," which opens in theaters nationwide onJune 24, 2011. Inspired by Goodyear and the iconic Pixar character Buzz Lightyear, "Lightyear" tires will reprise the role as animated rubber on the road for the sequel's star, Lightning McQueen. In honor of the film, Goodyear also transformed its website homepage and iconic blimp to read "Lightyear."
