Country Sings Disney Collection to Release July 8
Country music’s biggest stars have assembled for the upcoming Country Sings Disney project, in stores Tuesday, July 8. The fifteen song collection features classic and contemporary Disney tracks performed by today’s favorite country stars, including Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Bucky Covington, Little Big Town, Josh Gracin, Phil Stacey, SHeDAISY and many more.

The Wave Brings a Splash of Fun, Healthful Dining to Disney’s Contemporary Resort
With drinks like the Antioxidant Cocktail, entrées such as whole-wheat linguine with clams, rock shrimp and fresh thyme in chunky tomato broth, and crispy almond-raisin "baklava" for dessert, The Wave brings a surge of new dining ideas to Walt Disney World Resort. Located in Disney's Contemporary Resort, the new restaurant is "bold cooking inspired by fresh markets," said Dieter Hannig, vice president of new concepts for Walt Disney World Food & Beverage. "America is more and more a melting pot, and The Wave features American cooking with world flavors."

OrlSen: Contemporary's Anticipated DVC Project Renamed?
The Orlando Sentinel reports the developing project by Disney's Contemporary is now named "Bay Lake Tower" instead of "Kingdom Tower" in Disney's filings with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Earth Day activities at Walt Disney World
Earth Day is April 22nd (also Animal Kingdom's 10th birthday this year). Here's a list of planned activities around Walt Disney World
- Animal Kingdom 9am - 3pm -- "Party for the Planet" park-wide Earth Day Celebration including Earth Day button distribution and various activities such as Supermarket Sweep and "What's in Sue's Poop?".

"The Wave" coming to The Contemporary
This summer, The Wave debuts at Disney's Contemporary Resort, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Located on the first floor with a "superlounge," the upscale restaurant will offer "bold American cooking with flavors from all over the world." The seasonal menu will feature local and regional products when possible, organic beers and trendy cocktails such as the "antioxidant cosmo" with açai juice. The innovative wine list has a quirky claim to fame -- all screw caps, no corks. Cutting-edge wines from around the globe will be showcased.

Star-Powered, 16-Act Lineup Slated for Night of Joy 2008 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

New Contemporary tower to be called "The Kingdom Tower"
According to the Orlando Sentinel the new tower being constructed next to the Contemporary will be called the Kingdom Tower and Disney has won approval to being selling these as Disney Vacation Club timeshare units. The tower will have 15 floors and 281 units. Click here to read more.

Pleasure Island, Raglan Road Irish Pub Plan St. Patrick's Day Fun
The St. Patrick's Day fun will last longer than a weekend at Downtown Disney as Walt Disney World guests are treated to a variety of special entertainment at Pleasure Island beginning March 14 and at Raglan Road Irish Restaurant & Pub beginning March 16. Pleasure Island's Sham-Rock 'n' Roll features street-party fun for the whole family March 14, 15 and 17. The island will "turn green" with live music featuring Seven Nations, videos by Irish artists, leprechauns and stilt walkers. Club admission is not required to experience the fun beginning at 7 p.m. each day. For additional information, guests can call 407/WDW-2NITE (option 4, option 1) or visit www.downtowndisney.com.

Water Ski Champion Sammy Duvall Opens Surf Shop at Downtown Disney
Surfer dudes will want to ride the waves with the newly opened Curl by Sammy Duvall surf shop at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island. The high-end shop offers a selection of trendy surf-wear clothing and accessories, plus skate boards, surf boards and other water-related sports gear. Situated near 8Trax, Curl by Sammy Duvall is open daily from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m.
During his competitive career, Sammy Duvall was one of the most accomplished water skiers in the world. He won more than 80 professional championships and was ranked #1 in the world for either ski jump or overall competition for 17 straight seasons. He was inducted into the International Water Ski Hall of Fame and the prestigious USA Water Ski Hall of Fame.
Today, Sammy's legacy continues with his multi-faceted Watersports Centre located at Disney's Contemporary Resort marina. His staff introduces Disney guests into his world of wakeboarding, waterskiing and tubing at the facility on Bay Lake.

(November 6, 2007) To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Great American Ink, a Los Angeles-based vintage and contemporary animation art gallery, is holding an online video and exhibition of original production art from this historical film. Visitors can see the exclusive online video, Behind the Scenes of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and experience the actual process used to make animated films seventy years ago. Great American Ink has also released a special anniversary limited edition cel from Snow White.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre in 1937 and attracted Hollywoods most famous celebrities, including Charlie Chaplin, Judy Garland, John Barrymore, Clark Gable and Carol Lombard.
Mingling with the stars were the anonymous makers of the film whom Walt Disney had given tickets. There was great anticipation to see how the audience would react. Animator Ward Kimball remembers the evening, We werent prepared for the crying and sniffling in the audience.
Snow White was an immediate success and remains one of the greatest animated features of all time. The film, Disneys first full-length animated feature and a significant screen innovation, charmed millions and pioneered a great new entertainment field.
Disney won an honorary Academy Award presented to him by Shirley Temple at the 1938 Academy Awards ceremony. The Award was not just a single Oscar statue, but eight one full-size and seven little ones all on the same stand. Snow White was the most successful movie released that year.
