EA Opens Los Angeles Studio to Develop ‘Stars Wars’ Games and Attract Talent
FoxBusiness.com writes EA has opened a new studio in Los Angeles in an effort to attract talent from rival developers. The new studio will house EA’s Stockholm-based DICE game developer, which will be central to the creation of a new series of “Star Wars” games.

New Monsters University Storybook App Launching Today

Disney and EA Announce Star Wars Games Agreement
The Walt Disney Company and Electronic Arts Inc. have announced a new multi-year exclusive licensing agreement to develop and publish globally new games based on Star Wars characters and storylines.

Take to the Skies with “Disney’s Planes” Video Game
Disney Interactive today announced that “Disney’s Planes,” a flying adventure video game inspired by the upcoming Disney animated comedy adventure film, will be available exclusively for Nintendo platforms including the Wii™ and Wii U™ systems as well as the Nintendo 3DS™ and Nintendo DS™ handheld devices on August 6th, just a few days prior to the film’s August 9thopening in theaters nationwide. The game will expand beyond the storyline of “Disney’s Planes,” offering players the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of flight as one of the popular characters from the film.

Disney Targeted in Lawsuit Over "Where's My Water?" iPhone App
AppleInsider.com writes Lodsys, a company that has been suing app makers over alleged licensing fees since 2011, is now suing Disney claiming they've wrongfully infringed on one of their patents.

Disney Shuts Down LucasArts After 31 Years of Making Games
Five months after Disney acquired LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Disney has decided to shut down the company's game creation studio LucasArts which has been making games for 31 years. Disney will instead license the properties to other game studios. The move means layoffs and the putting on hold of two major projects - First Assault and 1313.

Disney Infinity Delayed Until August
The New York Times writes Disney Infinity, Disney's upcoming video game and toy initiative, has been offiially delayed from June to late August. According to the article, retailers who were impressed with the public reaction to teh demonstration pushed for the move to put it closer to the holiday season.
