Lack of Safety Protocols Contributed to 2009 Monorail Accident

The National Transportation Safety Board has concluded its investigation into the July 2009 Monorail accident that killed a 21-year old cast member. The investigation found cited a pair of employee errors as the primary cause a nd also said Disney World's lack of standard operating procedures also contributed. Disney Cited for Safety Violations in Mechanic's Death at Animal Kingdom

The Orlando Sentinel writes Federal investigators have cited Walt Disney World for four safety violations and proposed $69,000 in fines following a probe into the death of a mechanic who was killed while working on Primeval Whirl at Animal Kingdom in March.

AP: Worker dies in apparent mishap at Disneyland Paris

The Associated Press is reporting a 53 yr old Disneyland Paris subcontractor was severely injured and later died following a before-dawn accident at "it's a small world" He may have been trapped under one of the boats after the ride was accidentally turned on while he was cleaning.

WESH: Disney fights release of documents in monorail death lawsuit

According to local NBC affiliate WESH Disney is claiming some of the documents the family of Austin Wuennenberg, the monorail driver killed in July 2009 collision, have requested contain trade secret information and are fighting their release.

OrSen: Disney goes to trial over safety of Tower of Terror

A Florida jury heard opening arguments in the case of Pennsylvania man claiming Tower of Terror led to his stroke. The case is unusually in that the lawyers are not claiming malfunction resulted in injury to their client but rather the ride is fundamentally unsafe and visitors are not appropriately warned of its dangers.

OrSen: Disney fined in ‘08 worker death

According to the Orlando Sentinel the Disney Company has paid $9800 in OSHA fines relating to the November 2008 accident during work on an power substation near the Swan and Dolphin resorts. Electrical-power technician Douglas Howell was shocked by 12,400 volts and died three weeks later.
