Alice in Wonderland crushes competition in its second weekend

In its second weekend of release Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland took in $62 million domestically, a drop of only 47% from its opening weekend. It's US total now stands at $208.6 million and its worldwide gross is an amazing $430 million.

The Princess and the Frog brings in $12.2 million its second weekend

In its second weekend of nationwide release The Princess and the Frog brought in an estimated $12.2 million, a 49.5% drop off from its opening weekend. The film finished second for the weekend behind Avatar which made $73 million. Thus far The Princess and the Frog has made $44.8 million.

NYTimes: Disney’s ‘Princess’ Displays Limited Box Office Magic

Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" topped the box office in its first week of wide-release with $24 million which was at the lower end of expectations. "Disney's A Christmas Carol" stepped down to the No. 5 spot and has a cumulative total of $124.5 million in its six weeks.

Disney's "Bolt" opened with $26,223,128 for #3. "High School Musical 3" in its fifth week is #7. "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" in its eighth week is #16. And "WALL-E" in its 22nd week is #29. Also opening in the top ten was the Miramax Films release "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". Miramax is a subsidary of the Disney Company.

Disney Has Two Top Holiday Spots

With National Treasure at #1 and The incredibles at #2 Disney had the top two spots at the box office over the important Thanksgiving holiday weekend. National Treasure brought in $33.1 million for a 10 day total of $87.9 million. The Incredibles took in $24.1 million for a total of $214.7 million since its November 5th release.
