Disney/Pixar's BRAVE Announces "Sounds of the Highlands" Original Score and Songs
Disney•Pixar’s epic fantasy adventure “Brave” harnesses the magic of ancient Scotland, weaving the rich natural setting throughout the story and bringing it to life with sophisticated filmmaking and extraordinary performances. But it’s the music of “Brave” that ties it all together, elevating the authenticity with a fresh and contemporary approach to Oscar®-nominated composer Patrick Doyle’s score, as well as two original songs performed by lauded Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis. A third original song plays during the film’s epilogue and is performed by UK singing sensation Birdy with British folk rock band Mumford & Sons. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” hits theatres on June 22, 2012. The film’s soundtrack from Walt Disney Records will be available June 19, 2012.

Newsies Original Broadway Cast Recording Now Available Digitally, Physical Release is May 15
As the acclaim continues to pour in for the new hit Broadway musical Newsies, the digital release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording has made an impressive debut on the Billboard charts, landing at #1 on the Top Broadway Chart, #27 on the Top Digital Chart and #74 on the Billboard Top 200. Out now digitally on Ghostlight Records, the physical release of the album is set for May 15th, 2012. The physical release will feature three special bonus tracks including an exclusive version of “Santa Fe” performed by lead Jeremy Jordan accompanied by Alan Menken on piano. The New Amsterdam, Minskoff and Nederlander Theatres To Dim Tonight in Honor of Robert Sherman
The marquees of Disney’s New Amsterdam Theatre, home of the musical Mary Poppins, along with the Minskoff and Nederlander Theatres, which house Disney Theatrical Productions’ The Lion King and Newsies, will dim this evening at 7:01 in memory of legendary songwriter Robert Sherman, who died yesterday in London at 86.
The same tribute will be paid tonight at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI where the Mary Poppins national tour is playing and tomorrow’s performance of Mary Poppins in Perth, Australia will be dedicated to Sherman.

Pixar in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl August 3, 4 & 5

Just got the 2012 Hollywood Bowl mailer listing this year's shows and wanted to give an early heads up about a show that might be of interest to Disney/Pixar fans.
The weekend of August 3, 4 & 5 there will be a show titled "Pixar in Concert". Here is how the show is described in the flyer:
"From the Toy Story Trilogy to The Incredibles and Up, Pixar has forever changed filmmaking and given audiences of all ages some of the most beloved characters in cinematic history. Now, for the first time ever, the Hollywood Bowl presents "Pixar in Concert", with visually stunning clips and memorable scores from each of Pixar's movies (including it's latest release, Brave), peformed live by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra."
No other details are given at this time, they usually put out more details on the shows later. I suspect that they will eventually announce some special guests or special character appearances.
At this time, only subscription series tickets are available for purchase. Tickets for individual shows will go on sale later. Thankfully, this year the Disney related Bowl show does not conflict with the D23 event, as the Fantasia show did last year. This one is the weekend before the D23 Destination D August event.

The Black Hole Soundtrack Released on CD

Intrada's latest release in their Disney partnership is the first ever CD of John Barry's score to "The Black Hole"
The old LP program has been available on iTunes for a couple years, but this new CD is digitally remastered and adds 20 minutes of additional music. They are also promising extensive liner notes by Disney Records producer Randy Thornton and film music historian Jeff Bond.
Unlike many Intrada releases, this one isn't a limited edition, which means it should be around for a while. Here is the link to the ordering page. On their unlimited releases, Intrada often keeps an exclusive for soundtrack specialty stores for a month or two before releasing to general retailers like Amazon.

Phineas and Ferb: Across the 1st and 2nd Dimensions Soundtrack Available August 2nd
Walt Disney Records is set to recover a soundtrack to Phineas and Ferb: Across The 1st and 2nd Dimensions, on August 2, 2011. The manuscript facilities 7 new songs (“Everything’s Better With Perry,” “Brand New Best Friend,” “Summer (Where Do We Begin?),” “Taking Care Of Things,” “Mysterious Force,” “Robot Riot”) and a finish credit lane “Kick It Up a Notch,” a Phineas and Ferb partnership with mythological guitarist Slash. The soundtrack also includes 15 songs from a strike charcterised series. The Disney Channel Original Movie “Phineas and Ferb: Across a 2nd Dimension” premieres Friday, Aug 5 (8 p.m., ET/PT), on Disney Channel: Saturday, Aug 13, on Disney XD: and also on a ABC Television Network (date TBD).
