Penguins are once again assembling as Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains in Disney’s Club Penguin, the #1 virtual world for kids, for this year’s all-new Marvel Super Hero Takeover event. Now through May 7, penguins will be called to defend the city of Penguintropolis and bring members dressed as Marvel Super Villains to justice before they take over with their destructive robots. After choosing sides, members can suit up in over 25 Marvel costumes like Super Heroes Iron Man, She-Hulk, Captain America and Sif or the more mischievous ensembles of Marvel Super Villains like the Mandarin and Loki.
Club Penguin, the #1 virtual world for kids, set an all-time one-day traffic record, with 1.8 million players logging into the world on November 23 during its Operation Blackout event. In the Operation Blackout event the Island of Club Penguin was under attack from notorious villain, Herbert P. Bear, and players were enlisted as secret agents and save the island.
The New York Times writes about Disney's struggles to master the Internet as it redesigns Disney.com again. The company's gaming, mobile and Internet division has had 15 consecutive quarters of losses totalling $977 million.

Disney Interactive announced today the online launch of the new short form animated video series, Disney Where's My Water? Presents: Swampy's Underground Adventures on Disney.com and Disney's YouTube channel at YouTube.com/DisneyShows, with plans to premiere the short form series on Disney Channel beginning in November. Swampy's Underground Adventures follows the hilarious and unpredictable adventures of Swampy, Disney's first original character born on mobile and star of Disney's #1 new mobile franchise Where's My Water?. The series also marks the first production from Disney Interactive's collaboration with YouTube to bring original family-friendly video series to the web.
The Los Angeles Times writes Lane Merrifield, who came to Disney Interactive after Disney acquired Club Penguin, is leaving Disney after two years with the merged company.
Disney’s Club Penguin kicked off the Make Your Mark: Ultimate Jam event, which transforms the #1 virtual world for kids into the biggest and most fun music and dance party ever. The party will feature guest appearances by Rocky and CeCe penguins from Disney Channel’s top-rated series, “Shake It Up,” marking the first time players will have the chance to interact with Disney Channel personalities in world. Right before the event, ClubPenguin will also release its first-ever single and music video, “The Party Starts Now” in English, French, German and Spanish.

Power Up, Disney Interactive’s new original web series gives families an inside look at the exciting world of video gaming. Presented by Kinect for Xbox 360, the weekly show on Disney.com is hosted by YouTube and musical sensation, Christina Grimmie, who will cover a wide range of game-related topics, including reviews of popular console, mobile, social and casual games. The series will also feature comedic game-based skits with other popular YouTube stars, as well as original songs and music by Grimmie. Fans can also check out Power Up on Disney’s network on YouTube, Disney Mobile and Xbox LIVE.

Have you heard? Disney Animal Kingdom Explorers is coming soon and it’s the first social game inspired by our very own Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Yes, it includes “The Tree of Life,” and during game play, you’ll have a chance to create and nurture your own wildlife nature preserve around it – with exotic animals. A few of the game’s locations will be familiar to Disney Parks Blog readers.
When it launches on Facebook, players will also be able to search for hidden objects in some spectacular natural settings, from the Rocky Mountains to the Amazon rainforest to the Australian outback. Club Penguin (clubpenguin.com), the #1 virtual world for kids, has released a free version of its hit mobile game “Puffle Launch” for both iOS and Android.
“Puffle Launch” originally debuted on the App Store in September of 2011 for $0.99 and became an instant hit, ranking in the Top 10 in 24 different countries. To date, more than 100 million coins have been transferred from the app to clubpenguin.com.
Available now, “Puffle Launch Lite” features fast paced gameplay in which players blast pet Puffles through a series of six challenging levels. Using multi touch skills to the extreme, players must dodge crazy obstacles to get back all of the Puffle Os and ultimately discover amazing surprises. Players can also Collect Puffle O's and earn virtual coins to transfer to clubpenguin.com.

The online video promotion lets guests create their own music videos from a selection of holiday tunes from Disney artists, then upload them on Disney.com/URock. ClubPenguinInsiders.com, a blog that writes about Disney's Club Penguin online community, writes visitors to the site this morning were greeted with a message from Network Solutions that usually indicates a domain has expired and their check of the domain's WhoIs record confirmed that it had expired. The site has since returned to operation.
