On Monday on “Good Morning America,” the cast of Newsies, the Tony® Award-winning hit Broadway musical, celebrated one year on Broadway with a special performance of “Carrying The Banner” that took the newsies from the streets of the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st St., New York City) to a takeover of GMA’s Times Square Studios.
Newsies, the hit Tony® Award-winning musical celebrated its first smash year on Broadway with its entire creative team and Mauro Castano from Carlo’s Bakery and TLC’s “Cake Boss,” who created a one of a kind cake for the special occasion. Newsies opened at the Nederlander Theatre on March 29, 2012.

Broadway.com reports Disney's Aladdin is officially headed to Broadway. The musical will play a pre-Broadway engagement in Toronto from November 13, 2013 - January 12, 2014 then head to Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre in 2014.
Though nothing official has been announced by Disney, the New York Post is reporting Mary Poppins will be closing on Broadway on April 3rd and will be replaced at the New Amsterdam Theater with Aladdin.

The cast of Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, will appear on the 2012 CBS Thanksgiving Day Parade, with a performance of “King of New York.” For the first time ever, television audiences will have the opportunity to see a number performed on the stage of the Nederlander Theatre, where Newsies plays to sold-out crowds. The parade airs live on CBS, beginning at 9:00am, on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 22, 2012.
The cast of Newsies, The Tony® Award winning new American musical, led by Corey Cott as Jack Kelly, will perform the show-stopping number "Seize the Day" in-studio on the Tuesday, November 13 (8:00PM-9:00PM) episode of "Dancing with the Stars: All Stars" on the ABC Television Network.
In this special New York episode, Disney Geek host Billy Stanek meets up with the cast and crews of Broadway's The Lion King and Mary Poppins. Tshidi Manye, who has been with The Lion King for 12 years, shows off an African click language, and Cameron Pow, who plays Zazu, demonstrates how his feathery friend puppet operates each night. Over at Mary Poppins, Suzanne Hylenski, who is the dance captain in the show, invites Billy to transform into a chimney sweep with costume, make-up, and all!
All of Tuesday's Broadway performances have been cancelled. Mary Poppins, Newsies are scheduled to resume normal performances on Wednesday. The week's remaining performances for the three shows are:

In response to the announced closing of the New York City mass transit system, and in the interest of guest, cast and company safety, Disney has canceled some of their Theatrical performances.

Newsies, the Tony Award winning new American musical, proudly welcomes Lavon Fisher-Wilson to the role of Medda Larkin beginning September 11. She succeeds Capathia Jenkins, who played her final performance on Sunday, September 9.

Newsies, the Tony® Award winning new American musical, proudly announces that Corey Cott will become the show’s new leading man, Jack Kelly, beginning Wednesday, September 5th. Cott became the Jack Kelly alternate earlier this month and will continue as alternate until he assumes the role full time.
Jeremy Jordan, who created the role in the show’s world premiere production at Paper Mill Playhouse and received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for his Broadway performance, is scheduled to play his final performance Tuesday, September 4th. He leaves to work full time on his leading role on NBC’s ‘Smash.’
Corey Cott makes his Broadway debut in Newsiesjust weeks after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama. His university credits include Suddenly Last Summer, Assassins, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Sweeney Todd, among others. He appeared in several productions at Pittsburgh CLO including Miss Saigon, The Sound of Music and Jesus Christ Superstar and recently in the New York reading of Bare directed by Stafford Arima.
