Newsies Announces Open Ended Broadway Run
Newsies, the breakout new American musical, today announced that its Broadway run will be open ended. A new block of tickets for performances August 20 – November 18 will go on sale Monday, May 21 at 10:00am, and group sales will also be accepted through January 6, 2013. Newsies Nominated For Eight Tony Awards Including Best Musical

Newsies Original Broadway Cast Recording Now Available Digitally, Physical Release is May 15
As the acclaim continues to pour in for the new hit Broadway musical Newsies, the digital release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording has made an impressive debut on the Billboard charts, landing at #1 on the Top Broadway Chart, #27 on the Top Digital Chart and #74 on the Billboard Top 200. Out now digitally on Ghostlight Records, the physical release of the album is set for May 15th, 2012. The physical release will feature three special bonus tracks including an exclusive version of “Santa Fe” performed by lead Jeremy Jordan accompanied by Alan Menken on piano. The Lion King Celebrates 6,000 Performances on April 18

Disney’s landmark musical event, THE LION KING, will celebrate another remarkable milestone when it plays its 6,000th performance at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Only five other shows in Broadway history have achieved this feat. Newsies Sets House Record at Nederlander Theatre
From Disney Theatrical:
Newsies, the breakout new American musical, set a new house record at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre (208 W. 41st Street) playing to 100% capacity and grossing $1,024,516.60 for eight performances the week ending April 15, 2012. This bests the previous Nederlander house record, also set by Newsies, when the production grossed $963,625 for eight performances the week ending April 8, 2012. Prior to Newsies,the Nederlander Theatre house record was held by Rent when it grossed $955,535 for nine performances the week ending January 1, 2006.

The New Amsterdam, Minskoff and Nederlander Theatres To Dim Tonight in Honor of Robert Sherman
The marquees of Disney’s New Amsterdam Theatre, home of the musical Mary Poppins, along with the Minskoff and Nederlander Theatres, which house Disney Theatrical Productions’ The Lion King and Newsies, will dim this evening at 7:01 in memory of legendary songwriter Robert Sherman, who died yesterday in London at 86.
The same tribute will be paid tonight at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI where the Mary Poppins national tour is playing and tomorrow’s performance of Mary Poppins in Perth, Australia will be dedicated to Sherman.

In a Broadway first, cast members from the breakout American musical Newsies will chat with fans live on YouTube this Thursday evening, February 16th at 6:30PM EST. Newsies’ Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Tommy Bracco, Kyle Coffman, and Ephraim Sykes will be on hand to talk about the show. Fans of the musical, which is currently in rehearsals, can visit Twitter to submit questions to the cast using the hashtag #newsieschat. The Nederlander Theatre box office opens for Newsies Monday, January 30th at 10:00am. Tickets will be available for purchase through NewsiesTheMusical.com, by calling Ticketmaster’s Disney on Broadway hotline at 866-870-2717, or in person at the Nederlander Theatre box office (208 W. 41st Street). The Nederlander Theatre box office will be open Monday through Saturday 10:00am – 8:00pm through March 11th. Beginning March 12th box office hours will be Monday through Saturday 10:00am – 8:00pm and Sunday 11:00am – 7:00pm.

Jeremy Jordan to Recreate Role of Jack Kelly in Disney's Newsies on Broadway

The Lion King Sets New House and Production Records at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre
Disney’s landmark musical event, THE LION KING, set a new house record at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre by grossing $2,079,616 during the sold-out eight-performance Thanksgiving week ending November 27, 2011. This figure also marked the highest single week gross in the show’s 14 year run. The previous records were set week ending 01/02/2011 when THE LION KING grossed $1,993,370.
