Passholder Screening of John Carter at Hollywood Studios March 3 & 4
Disney is screening their upcoming film John Carter for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders on March 3rd and 4th at Disney's Hollywood Studios in the Premiere Theater. There will be three screenings each day and prior registration is required and space is limited.

Ridley Pearson and Emma Walton Hamilton Signing Books at Disney World This Week
From the Official Disney Parks Blog...
Ridley Pearson returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Thursday, January 26. He will be signing all four books from the “Kingdom Keepers” series from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Writer’s Stop. His newest book, “Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game,” will be published this coming spring. Devon Burch, Merchandise Special Events Manager, told me that Ridley will be returning in March for an early release event for this book. Stay tuned to ArtofDisneyParks.com for additional details.
On Saturday, January 28, Emma Walton Hamilton will be appearing at Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney Marketplace. She was the co-author, along with her mother Julie Andrews, of the “The Very Fairy Princess.” We will also have the newest book in the series “The Very Fairy Princess Takes The Stage.” She will be signing books and meeting with fans from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tower of Terror Race to Return in 2012
runDisney has announced on the Disney Parks Blog that a race themed to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror will again be run in 2012. The last race run there was 2009. The 2012 event, to be held on September 29th, will be 10-mile race followed by a post-race party in the Studios.

Comedy Warehouse Returns for the Holidays at Disney's Hollywood Studios
From the Disney Parks Blog...
What says “holidays” better than laughter? At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, laughter will ring out thanks to a special family comedy show scheduled for a limited run at the ABC Sound Studio (theatre) in the heart of the park.
From December 25 through December 31, “The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” will present the best of improvisational comedy as performers – including alumni from the Comedy Warehouse on Pleasure Island – take suggestions from Guests and add their own brand of humor, right on the spot.
The performers hilariously reinvent holiday classics based on suggestions they solicit from the audience, including holiday songs, stories, poems and movie scenarios. Show times (subject to change) are 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. daily.
”The Comedy Warehouse Holiday Special” is included in park admission.

Disney World Stops Future ESPN the Weekends

One thing that’s always struck me is our commitment to regularly reviewing the experiences we provide to our guests and challenging ourselves to bring new opportunities to life. Occasionally, this results in something coming to an end, as is the case with what I’m sharing today. In order to focus our efforts on ESPN’s growing year-round presence at Walt Disney World Resort, we have decided to no longer host ESPN The Weekend. As you may know, the event was first created in 2004 in support of ESPN’s 25th anniversary and, along with ESPN Club, served as ESPN’s first significant presence here. While the event has continued for seven more successful years, our relationship with ESPN has evolved significantly and positively. This has resulted in new branding for the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, new opportunities for millions of athletes, coaches and fans, and hundreds of hours of ESPN programming, making our guests part of the show. In addition, the sports complex has become home to the ESPN Innovation Lab, which is the official development hub for ESPN’s 3Dnetwork. Moving forward, our focus will be on creating events like the new ESPN RISE Girls Showcase and the ESPN RISE Games, which provide a stage for tens of thousands of athletes from around the country, and providing opportunities for guests to be part of events they’ve only before watched on television, such as the Home Depot College Football Awards and the Old Spice Classic. We have just scratched the surface of what Walt Disney World and ESPN can do together and look forward to sharing information about new projects as they progress.

Disney World Promotes Star Tours with an Off-Property Van and Medal Ceremony Invite
A Mom and the Mouse at the Orlando Sentinel reports on a promotion Disney World is doing for Star Tours. The Star Tours Central Florida Tour van greets visitors on International Drive and U.S. Highway 192 with Star Tours Characters and giveaways including Star Tours mouse ears. Fourth of July to Rock the Skies above Walt Disney World With Special Fireworks Shows at Three Parks
Walt Disney World Resort will pixie dust the night skies July 4 with special pyrotechnic shows, including a patriotic display at Magic Kingdom, a rock’n’roll spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and a classic sky show at Epcot infused with an Independence Day finale. Here’s what’s in store:
- Magic Kingdom will present “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.” This patriotic fireworks spectacular, paying homage to the hopes and dreams of America’s forefathers, will light the skies at 9 p.m. July 4 – and for guests who would like to begin the Independence Day celebration early, the show also will be presented July 3 at 9 p.m.

Lightning McQueen Still Coming to Lights! Motors! Action!
The Official Disney Parks Blog writes Cars' and Cars 2's Lightning McQueen is coming to the Lights! Motors! Action! show at Disney's Hollywood Studios "later this summer". Lightning will replace the Herbie the Love Bug segment. As they write...
Look for his cameo when the stunt show director sets up a highlight reel dedicated to “one of the greatest race cars of all time.” But just as the crew leaves to set up for the next stunt demonstration, the highlight video feed is interrupted with a distress call from Mater, Lightning’s rusty sidekick. He warns the audience that secret agent Finn McMissile has issued a report of enemy spy activity at “these here coordinates.” Lightning McQueen speeds in to calm the audience down and explains that Mater is probably just telling tall tales again.
Just then, a mysterious black automobile appears on the stage. I don’t want to give away all the details here, but let’s just say what follows is quite an animated game of cat and mouse.

Fantasmic! to Run Nightly at Disney's Hollywood Studios July 6 - Sep 30
StudiosCentral.org is reporting Fantasmic! will start running nightly on July 6th through at least September 30th. As one of the major attractions of Hollywood Studios this is a great change as opposed to having to plan your schedule around the nights the show was running as had been the case.

American Idol Winner Scotty McCreery Goes to Disney World!
To celebrate his May 25 win on the popular “American Idol” television show, country music singer Scotty McCreery today was honored in a celebratory parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. Excited fans lined the streets, cheering on the 17-year-old singer from Garner N.C., as he joined Mickey Mouse in a convertible sports car and greeted fans before taking the microphone to sing his new hit single, “I Love You This Big” in front of “The American Idol Experience” attraction in the Disney theme park.

As we await the gala launch of “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue” at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, we asked C-3PO, R2-D2 and some of their closest pals to join us for some sneak peek events.
The Florida Mall in Orlando was the site of one of these early looks at the galactic fun, with Princess Leia Minnie and Jedi Mickey joining many Star Wars and Disney Parks fans for the festivities. Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and creator of the “Her Universe” line ofStar Wars-themed fangirl fashion, wielded our custom-built “mic-saber” and joined us to report on the event. No stranger to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (she is a former Cast Member), Ashley will return as one of the Celebrity Hosts of Star Wars Weekends 2011. Star Tours Grand Opening to be Webcast Live from Disney's Hollywood Studios
From the Official Disney Parks Blog...
Beginning at 10 a.m. on May 20, we will host a live webcast of the grand opening that will feature the ceremonial arrival of several dignitaries from around the galaxy to join in the fun.
Our webcast will include the entire grand opening event plus some material just for those of you watching online. You never know what the Force may bring. The webcast also will be also be live streaming on our Star Tours Facebook page and on ourDisney Parks YouTube page. The webcast will require a computer or mobile device that supports Flash. Looking forward to seeing you on May 20. And please check back here on the Disney Parks Blog for updates leading up to the event. Hollywood Studios Meet and Greets Rescheduled
The new Pnineas and Ferb and Winnie the Pooh Meet and Greets at Hollywood Studios have been pushed back a few weeks. New dates have not been announced.
