Runners Face ‘Challenge’ For Exclusive New Disney Medal

Disney Sports is creating a one-of-a-kind bonus medal for runners who complete the Fall Race Challenge, competing in two of Disney’s three fall endurance events at Walt Disney World Resort.  Runners that record an official time for Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K and either the Expedition Everest Challenge presented by Champion or The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K will receive the bonus medal in addition to individual race medals – a total of three race medals for running two races.  Registration for all three fall events is now open.

Science of Imagineering to Debut on DVD

Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Educational Productions have created a new educational DVD series called "The Science of Imagineering" due out this spring. The goal of the series is to make math and science fun for middle-school students by introducing basic scientific principles as they apply to theme park attractions. At Walt Disney World Resort, for example, production crews recently filmed Imagineers Joe Rohde and program host Asa Kalama who explained the design process involved in creating Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom. With Imagineers as their E-ticket instructors, students will learn about gravity at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, centripetal force at Mission: SPACE, and why science matters at Catastrophe Canyon.

Gates and his expedition team found the footprint while filming an episode of “Destination Truth” in Nepal in November 2007. The cast will soon be placed on display at Expedition Everest, a Himalayan-themed, high-speed, coaster-like attraction where guests come face-to-face with a yeti.

Spira Signs Three-Year Agreement To Sponsor Disney’s Endurance Series

Disney’s Expedition Everest Challenge presented by Champion To Provide Unique Test of Skills and Thrills

Runners looking to test themselves beyond just physical endurance will find a unique test of skills – and thrills – in the inaugural Disney’s Expedition Everest Challenge presented by Champion in September. Disney’s Expedition Everest Challenge presented by Champion is the first urban adventure race among Disney’s Endurance Series, offering a rare combination of physical and mental challenges that will require competitors to be quick on their feet – literally and figuratively. The nighttime event, which debuts Sept. 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will begin with a 5K run through the theme park, then transition to a fun obstacle course and finish with a scavenger hunt that will require a “passport,” creating the ultimate test of physical stamina as well as intellectual endurance along with a traditional dose of Disney magic.

OrlSen: Autopsy Reveals Man Died from Heart Attack on Expedition Everest

WFTV reports the autopsy found Jeffery C. Reeb, of Navarre, Fla., died of dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition that in this case had no known cause. He was found unconscious and unresponsive in his seat at the unload station for Expedition Everest.

A 44-year-old was unresponsvie when his ride vehicle approached the station. He was transported to Celebration Hospitla where he died.

New Atmosphere Entertainment at Animal Kingdom

New atmosphere entertainment debuted at Animal Kingdom last week. The Story Walkers use music, puppetry and audience participation to tell folk tales and fables from their travels. They can be found along the Expedition Everest walkway.
