Disney.com celebrates Walt Disney's birthday

On December 5-7, 2008 Disney.com (www.Disney.com) is featuring a special homepage tribute that celebrates the man who started it all: Walt Disney. Guests who visit Disney.com during this three-day period will find a homepage fashioned after Walt Disney's personal desk as it may have looked on Dec. 5, 1963. The tribute centers on the 1960s, when Walt was enjoying the immense success of Disneyland, as well as many new creative endeavors with Walt Disney Studios including production of future film classic Mary Poppins.

Special features on the site include:

  • A video tribute produced in conjunction with the Walt Disney Family Museum that includes personal interviews with Walt.
  • An interactive version of Walts desk that allows fans to explore Walts personal artifacts and Disney memorabilia. Disney.com worked with the Disney Archives team to take photos of the actual artifacts from Walts desk for use in the online tribute.
  • Artifacts include Walts daily journal and personal memo pad, an authentic Mary Poppins script, a memo regarding the four pavilions Disney created for the 1964 Worlds Fair, Walts glasses, and several personal and publicity photos from various productions and events.

Fans can find this by clicking on Explore Walts Desk on the Disney.com homepage.

The Disney.com tribute is a special project created particularly for the millions of Disney fans around the world who admire and regard the legend that started it all: Walt Disney.
