Hopefully Meyer Werft is going to build the new ships, because the Fantasy was just fantastic.

The German Meyer Werft is indeed building the new ships.

I was actually just chatting with a friend the other day about the Panama Canal expansion project, which is supposed to open soon. Will the 4 newer ships be able to fit through the new locks? I know that only the Magic and Wonder can fit through the original canal

Agreed. DCL if far worth whatever extra expense is involved. The staterooms are the largest in cruise lines of that class, the unique split bathroom arrangement is a major help to getting ready in the morning, and the service is unequaled. DCL also offers no cost benefits that other lines charge for (like unlimited free soft drinks and coffee).

I'm pretty sure that will be the case.

Actually, the Magic no longer fits through the Panama Canal, since they added the "duckbill" to the stern a couple of years ago to accommodate an extra generator (presumably so they don't get "Carnivaled" at sea in case one of the engine rooms goes completely out of service). IIRC, they made the decision to alter the Magic before the new Panama Canal was delayed, so they kind of got stuck with only the Wonder being able to make it to the West Coast for a few years.

It will be interesting to see how the new ships turn out. They are essentially the same size as the Dream and Fantasy, at only 4% bigger and with about the same cabin count. It would not surprise me to see the same passenger count and general layout, but with the extra area added to places that are currently tight, such as the dining rooms. Also, since there seems to be a race in the industry to come up with unique "wow" features on board, it will be interesting to see what Disney is able to come up with as a "first at sea" feature. They did so with the AquaDuck and the magic portals for inside cabins with the Dream and Fantasy, but other lines have come up with their own things since then.

    "Value" and "Deluxe" j/k

I think "Wish" might be a possibility.

I'd better everything I own (which isn't much) on "Wish".

Maybe "Imagination" or "Imagine" for the other?
