Bolt Across America Cross-Country Journey Culminates at Red Carpet Premiere of "Bolt" 16 week tour visits 32 cities, raising awareness for the movie and for the ASPCA
Bolt Across America kicked off in New York City on July 25, 2008, with an event featuring Miley Cyrus, who provides the voice of Penny in the animated comedy adventure “Bolt.” The Bolt Across America cross-country journey raised awareness for the film, which opened nationwide on November 21, and for the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), the nation’s leading animal welfare organization. The tour hit 32 cities nationwide, including Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Seattle, among others, and culminated in a roll down the red carpet at the film’s Hollywood premiere Monday, November 17, 2008.

Beauty and the Beast to be released in 3D in 2010
Further demonstrating its commitment to quality 3-D motion picture entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios has begun re-rendering its Oscar(R)-winning animated favorite, "Beauty and the Beast," in preparation for its Disney Digital 3-D(TM) debut on the big screen in 2010, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group. The announcement was made today in Singapore at 3DX: 3D Film and Entertainment Technology Festival, the industry's first conference devoted to the latest advances in 3-D technology and exhibition. The addition of "Beauty and the Beast" to its schedule brings the total number of Disney Digital 3-D releases to 11 for 2009-10.

Disney's New Five-Picture Deal With IMAX to Begin With 'A Christmas Carol'
Disney's "A Christmas Carol," the spectacular 3D 2009 holiday release from director Robert Zemeckis and starring Jim Carrey, will be the first film from The Walt Disney Studios slated for IMAX(R) theatres under a new five-picture arrangement the studio reached with IMAX Corporation, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group. Disney's "A Christmas Carol" will lead off an impressive slate of upcoming films from the Studio and a roster of top filmmakers that may include director Tim Burton as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer. This arrangement makes some of the Studio's most highly anticipated theatrical releases from November 2009 and beyond available to IMAX venues across the country and around the world.

Disney's Hawai'i Project Begins with Ground Blessing
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts broke ground for its first family destination resort in Hawai‘i today with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony on its 21-acre oceanfront property, located at the Ko Olina Resort & Marina development on the western side of O‘ahu. Scheduled to open in 2011, the new family friendly destination will overlook breathtaking crystal blue lagoons and white sand beaches and is planned to include 350 hotel rooms and 480 Disney Vacation Club timeshare villas.

Walt Disney Imagineering Earns Four Thea Awards
Walt Disney Imagineering captured four prestigious Thea Awards within the themed entertainment industry, TEA (formerly the Themed Entertainment Association) announced today. Acknowledging the creative and technical innovation and storytelling in Disney Parks, TEA honored Disney in the following categories: The Muppet Mobile Lab, currently at Hong Kong Disneyland, won the Award for Outstanding Achievement - Technical; The Legend of Mythica at Tokyo DisneySea and Finding Nemo – The Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom each won an Award for Outstanding Achievement - Live Show. In addition, Epcot, which recently celebrated its 26th anniversary at the Walt Disney World Resort, received the Thea Classic Award.

Travel Industry Honors Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo was inducted into the Travel Industry Association's (TIA) Hall of Leaders for his efforts to promote U.S. travel and tourism. During his Oct. 28 induction at TIA's annual Marketing Outlook Forum in Portland, Ore., Rasulo called upon his colleagues to continue the push for passage of The Travel Promotion Act (TPA) as a way to provide much needed stimulus to the U.S. economy. Stating that passage of the TPA would bring in "millions of new visitors, billions of dollars in economic revenue, and hundreds of thousands of new jobs." He stated that "if Congress doesnt get it done this year, then our next President must make travel promotion the centerpiece of getting our economy back on track."

The Walt Disney Company Grants $1.5 Million to Reforest Fire-Ravaged Areas in Southern California
The Walt Disney Company recently announced a grant of $1.5 million to TreePeople, a nonprofit organization focused on providing solutions to urban ecosystem problems including training and supporting communities to plant and care for trees. The grant will help reforest fire-ravaged areas in Southern California. Earlier this year, TreePeople awarded The Walt Disney Company with the 2008 Partner in the Community award in recognition of its work to plant and care for trees, and to educate children about the urban environment and stewardship of natural resources.

Microsoft Research and Disney-Pixar's WALL-E Explore the Real Universe
Microsoft Research teamed up with Disney-Pixar to create a virtual tour of the universe hosted by none other than WALL-E, the animated robot from Disney-Pixar's latest film, "WALL-E," which is available in stores today on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Mickey's Philharmagic announced for Tokyo Disneyland Oriental Land Co., Ltd. announced that a new attraction, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, will open at Tokyo Disneyland Park in 2011. Mickey’s PhilharMagic is a theater-type attraction employing Disney’s 3-D technology. Guests are invited into the theater for an orchestra concert, but Donald Duck causes a commotion, taking the Guests into a musical whirlwind through popular Disney films. It’s a fun-filled philharmonic mayhem into the magical world of Disney, with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and other Disney characters popping out of the screen to just an arm’s reach away from the Guests. The new attraction, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, will replace the attraction The Mickey Mouse Revue, which will close on May 25, 2009 in preparation for the new attraction.
