903 am PT: While we wait for ABC head Paul Lee’s executive session, did you see that Jimmy Kimmel is partnering with ILM? Here is the release:

ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the late night show will roll out a brand new opening sequence. Created in collaboration with Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), the new open highlights the vibrant energy and sights of Hollywood, the home of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” The show now begins with Jimmy Kimmel bringing Hollywood to life and taking the audience on a cinematic journey among the landmarks of the city. The sequence concludes with Jimmy inviting the audience up the steps and into the studio to join him for the show.

Historically, ILM has worked in the movie business, winning a total of 15 Academy Awards, with 30 additional nominations. The company has aligned themselves with “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to bring movie magic to the small screen.

ILM Visual Effects Supervisor Richard Bluff, who supervised the design and production of the open noted, “It was a real honor for us to be asked to redesign the open for ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ Knowing it had to stand out from the crowd and understanding it would play almost every week day of the year added extra pressure to make sure we got the tone and the impact exactly right. Through the close collaboration with show Producer Tony Romero and the rest of the wonderful team at ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ my Art Director Cody Gramstad and our partners at Ghost, I believe we delivered a compelling package that I look forward to enjoying along with audiences nightly.”

252 pm PT: The inspiration for Fresh Off the Boat, Eddie Huang, stirred up some controversy with an essay published yesterday that criticized while applauding the series based on his life.
