Disney Licensee Spotlight: Hasbro

As part of New York Toy Fair, Hasbro held an event to preview some of their upcoming items. They had a lot to share, so lets get straight into it. Let’s start with Star Wars.

While it is a bit premature to talk about Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, Hasbro has plenty of Star Wars toys to hold us over.

First we have Star Wars Hero Mashers. Interchangeable parts allow you to mix and match your Star Wars characters? As Hasbro says, “What if Darth Vader had the hairy arms of Chewbacca, or Jar Jar Binks was armed with the bounty-hunting gear of Boba Fett.” There are five collections of Star Wars Heros Mashers. The basic line includes 12 figures including classic characters such as Anakin Skywalker and a Storm Trooper along with new favorites from Star Wars Rebels like Kanan Jarrus and the Inquisitor.

With the deluxe assortment, each figure comes with a piece of battle gear to add another dimension of play. There are four characters in this assortment including Zeb Orrelios from Star Wars: Rebels, Boba Fett and General Grievous. There is also two characters in a speeder assortment, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Maul, where each figure comes with a speeder they can ride which also includes a projectile launcher.

Three sets of battle pack assortments will be available. Each set comes with a hero and villain combo such as Yoda vs. Emperor Palpatine and Han Solo vs. Boba Fett. This allows you to have an instant battle. Finally there is a Return of the Jedi multi-pack that includes favorites from the film including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Biker Scout, and Wicket. Hero Mashers will be available this Fall.

Furbacca FINAL

Furby is entering the world of Star Wars in the form of Furbacca. This Star Wars edition of Furby speaks Wookie, hums songs from Star Wars, plays games, and more. You can aslo extend the play of the toy by downloading the Furbacca app where players can take care of the Furby as well as collect Furblings. Furbacca will be available in the Fall.

StarWars_Bladebuilders_Jedi_Master_2

Hasbro is allowing kids to build their own lightsaber at home. You can mx and match components, with the Star Wars Blad Builder system. The starter set, the Jedi Master lightsaber set comes with a main lightsaber featuring lights and sounds, two independently-lit lightdaggers, expansion hilt, 2 elbow connectors, dual connector, and cross connector. There will also be expansion sets that come in both electronic and foam editions where you can pick up lightsabers from iconic character ranging from Anakin to Yoda. The collection will be available in the Fall.

Obviously Hasbro is excited about Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but as was a theme during Toy Fair amongst all licensees, it was a bit premature to talk about what products will be available to support the film as the veil of mystery surrounding it has yet to be pulled back. I am sure we will hear a lot more from Hasbro as we get closer.

Hasbro will also be supporting the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, Descendants in a big way. Representatives were on hand to preview dolls from the film. The dolls represent all the major characters from the film. There are also role-play/fashion items. Hasbro even had some props from the film on hand.

With Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man coming out this Summer, Hasbro has far too many products to touch all of them. From action figures to collectibles to role-play toys there is something for Marvel fans of all ages. While I can’t go into every product, I will share some of my highlights.

Ant Man with Flying Ant

From Ant-Man we get a figure that will lead to big play out of a small package. This 3.75-inch movie-accurate action figure! This item features ANT-MAN and his unique vehicle — an in-scale winged ant that he can ride into battle

Kids and adult collectors alike will be pleased to know that Marvel is continuing the Legends line of six inch figures with a wide variety of characters. From Ant-Man to Wasp and everyone in between there is Marvel Universe spanning line has something for any Marvel fan. Each figure comes with a “build-a-figure” piece that when combined with other pieces create impressive figures such as Ultron or Thanos.

Similar to the Star Wars Mashers are the Marvel Super Hero Mashers, where you can mix and match parts to create your ultimate hero. There will be a total of 18 figures in the assortment featuring characters like Star-Lord, Rocket and Agent Venom. Each figure is six inches. There will also be a Hulk Buster vs. Hulk set of Super Hero Mashers so you can recreate the massive battle or engage in some instant mashing.

Titan Hero Tech Ultron

The characters from Age of Ultron come to life with the Avengers: Age of Ultron Titan Hero Tech electronic action figures. These toys, which will be available this spring, talk to each other with great sound effects. Iron Man and Ultron also have lighting effects to add an extra dimension. The line includes Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Ultron. There will also be a 12 inch tall Hulk figure. Each of these figures interactions with the Hulkbuster figure which features his signature jackhammer punch and repulsor chest lights. It is really neat to see these characters interacting with each other.

Of course there are many more toys to talk about when it comes to the Avengers, including an Avengers branded Monopoly game and branded Play-doh sets. I especially like some of the role-play items like the Hulk hands that you can actually grip with. Walmart will also have an exclusive Hulk Buster role-play assortment.

So whether you like Star Wars, DCOMS, or Marvel, Hasbro has you covered.
