Phineas and Ferb say goodbye at San Diego Comic Con 2015

As the song goes “There’s a 104 days of summer vacation and school comes along just to end it.” Well in this case, there were 9 years of summer vacation for the cast of Phineas and Ferb and SDCC 2015 came along just to end it.IMG_0081On Sunday July 12, TV Guide brought together the creators/executive producers of Phineas and Ferb, Dan Povenmire (voice of Doofenshmirtz) and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh (Major Monogram), along with stars Vincent Martella (Phineas), Alyson Stoner (Isabella),  Dee Bradley Baker (Perry), and Maulik Punchily (Baljeet) to say goodbye one last time.IMG_0078As the cast sat down, they all had the incorrect name cards and explained how it would always happen anyway so they mixed them up themselves this time just to make it more fun. The moderator and TV Guide Magazine chief content officer Michael Schneider decided to call them out and have each say their character’s catch phrase. Hearing Dee Brady Baker say “Where’s Perry?” in the Perry growl was amazing!IMG_0091IMG_0087As the hour went on, they shared stories about how the show progressed and the changes that had to be made (look up the definition of “Mittelshmirz” to understand why the villain’s name had to change), the cast became very emotional about the 9 years they have spent together.IMG_0085We were also given a sneak peek at the next special episode staring some of our favorites, The O.W.C.A. Files. In the special, Dr. Doofenshirtz, who was raised by ocelots, is given a second chance to join O.W.C.A.

One of the other things that Dan and ‘Swampy’ let slip is the P&F movie that was announced a few years ago does have a finished script, but is no longer on the books to be made. But they did tease that somewhere in the future there could always be a “next summer!”

IMG_0096 IMG_0097 IMG_0098One of the things we have to look forward to from Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh is a new series premiering on Disney XD in 2017 called Mikey Murphy’s Law, which will be all about the adventures of the great-great-great-great grandson of the Murphy’s Law namesake.

With time running out, the cast all started to get emotional as they said their “Thank you’s” to a full room giving them a standing ovation. All this for an animated series about two step-brothers and their pet platypus!IMG_0101 As a long time fan, I will admit I was moved to tears as the cast took their final bow before heading back to the Tri-State Area.IMG_0110
