Marvel Super Hero Spectacular

Greetings, true believers, to Marvel’s Super Hero Spectacular! Following the success of last year’s Marvel Super Hero September initiative, the folks at Marvel and Disney are once again celebrating Marvel goodness as we head into fall. So get ready to let the good times roll as we showcase some of the Marvel fun coming over the next couple of weeks.


September 29: Season Premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

As Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for its third season, the Secret Warriors are out looking for gifted individuals. Director Coulson discovers a new Inhuman while still reeling from Simmons’ dramatic disappearance. Join the ride, when the series returns at 9/8c.

September 30: Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #1

Who says comics are just for boys? As part of Marvel’s True Believers line of introductory comics, Marvel is releasing the first issue of the acclaimed Squirrel Girl series for just $1.00. Check out this fun title at a comic book store near you.

October 2: Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron on DVD and Blu-ray

Bring home the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron on DVD and Blu-ray. The release includes bonus features and deleted material such as this extended version of the Norn Cave scene.

October 3: “Contest of Champions: Part One”

SPIDER-MAN, WHITE TIGER, IRON FIST, VENOM, DAGGER, CLOAK

In this first of a four part season finale of Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, Spider-Man, The Avengers, and The Agents of SMASH battle their greatest foes for the fate of the planet. Join the fun on Disney XD as part of their Marvel Universe programming block.

October 4: Playmation

Disney’s long-awaited debut of their Playmation line of toys begins with the Avengers line being released. You can find out more about Playmation from our coverage of the reveal event. October 6: Tsum Tsum Tuesday

This month, Disney Store’s Tsum Tsum Tuesday promotion takes a marvelous turn. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, and Spider-Man will be available from Disney Stores and DisneyStore.com. I am sure Alex will have a lot to say about these cute versions of your favorite heroes in an upcoming edition of The Tsum Tsum Life.

October 6: “Purpose in the Machine”

Peter MacNicol returns as Asgardian professor Elliott Randolph as they try to find hints to Agent Simmons’ vanishing on this new episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. The episode also features Agent May at a crossroads as Blair Underwood guest stars as her ex-husband Dr. Andrew Garner.

October 7: All-New All-Different Marvel Point One

Get a look at the All-New All-Different Marvel with this new Point One issue that is your one-stop entry point to the changes and mysteries that have developed during the eight months that have passed since Marvel’s Secret Wars event. October 8-11: New York Comic-Con

October 13: Black Widow: Forever Red

This new young adult novel by #1 New York Times best-selling author Margaret Stohl looks at the history of the Black Widow. Natasha’s past connection to the Red Room comes back to haunt her as children begin disappearing across Eastern Europe. A girl with a connection to the Red Room and the Black Widow may be the key to unraveling the mystery.

October 18: Marvel Collector Corps: Villains

October 18 is the cutoff date for the “Villains” box from Funko’s Marvel Collector Corps subscription box service. While the contents of the box are classified at this time, Funko promises that the $25 box will offer products with a value of at least $50. So get ready for Halloween with some Marvel villains.
