It’s been a few weeks since our last Disneyland Resort update and that amount of time can make a big difference when it comes to construction in a Disney Park. First, work on Star Wars Land has been moving forward, although the average guest has probably noticed nothing more that the inconvenience of the closure of Big Thunder Trail. If they were able to get behind the walls at each end of the trail, it would be quite a different story. The only real evidence of the massive changes to the Disneyland landscape from inside the park can be seen in quick glimpses from certain high points on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

However, from the parking structure (which, unfortunately, can now be seen from New Orleans Square and vice versa) it has become quite evident that massive change is in the air. Guests who pause in their hurry to get to the trams have marveled at just how much closer Disneyland seems to Disneyland Drive. In the past, the berm and its heavy cover of mature trees betrayed only a few high points, most prominently the Matterhorn. Today, guests on the upper levels can view portions of Fantasyland, Frontierland, and straight into New Orleans Square and Tarzan’s Treehouse in Adventureland.
