If you enjoyed Zootopia, you’ll love this new app. I was excited myself to see how much of the movie was referenced in this game, so I really enjoyed the little details that came from seeing the film more times than I can count. There are different puzzle-type games for each section of the case you need to solve, so it doesn’t feel too predictable. When you solve a puzzle, you earn stars and energy that you use to unlock more cases and stages. I appreciate that it’s fun for kids but also has challenging moments, so you don’t feel like you breeze through all the levels.

I did have a little more trouble with this app than I’ve had with previous Disney apps, though. The load time for this app does take more time than I’m accustomed to. It takes at least a minute to load when you are done with a task, which feels uncommon to me with former Disney games. Another thing that can be frustrating is that, in order to advance to a new level, you need a certain amount of stars. However, it’s quite difficult to earn stars as your energy level runs out very fast and you have to wait for it to regenerate. Gameplay is definitely stretched out so, at least for me, it’s hard for me to find time to keep coming back to this game to figure out where I left off and, right when I feel like I’m starting to advance, I have to stop because I’ve run out of energy.

This is a really fun app with a few details that I’m sure can be fixed with more updates to the game. Zootopia Crime Files is free to download but it does have in-app purchases if you wish to spend money to make faster advances. Head over to the Apple App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store to download it and start solving cases for the ZPD!

Lauren has been a Disney fan all her life. On her first birthday, she received a copy of the Disney Sing-a-long, Disneyland Fun, and ever since that, she's been hardcore in learning everything she can about the park. Another one of her favorite aspects is the food and she enjoys recreating those recipes to share with her friends and family. She also loves any craft that she can add a little bit of Disney magic or a hidden Mickey to make more magical.
