Construction Begins at Caribbean Beach Resort

Construction officially began today at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. It was announced in February that Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort’s “Centertown” complex, which features retail and dining, will be getting a makeover. The expansion will include new waterfront dining and retail shopping areas. As part of this work, buildings within Martinique and Barbados islands will be unavailable beginning this May. The reported Gondola transport system may be a part of this work as well as a long-rumored Disney Vacation Club element.

Jeremiah stopped by to see that work began on schedule as equipment movers were seen on-site near the Martinique and Barbados buildings.

The Centertown complex is still accessible as of now, but as you can see Shutters has been shuttered.

You can also see that fencing has been added to the South Trinidad pool to mask some of the work. The fence is in the typical Disney “go-away green” and features some themed tarps.
