September 1

The excitement builds for Star Wars: The Last Jedi with today’s Force Friday II. Today is the first time that we get to see the merchandise that supports the film and starts the unofficial countdown to the film’s release in December. Follow Laughing Place all day for our coverage of the event.

September 2

The College Football season is officially underway and ABC and the ESPN networks have a wide slate of games. But there is no question that the headliner of the Kickoff Weekend is #3 Florida State vs #1 Alabama. This is the marquee Saturday Night game on ABC at 8 ET.

September 3

At Epcot’s What’s Cooking with Shaun O’Neale, the winner of Master Chef will show guests how he makes squid ink and lobster ravioli. The celebrity chef has ties to Disney as he visited Epcot when he was a baby and the park just opened. For reservations and more info visit DisneyWorld.com

September 4

ESPN will televise a Major League Baseball afternoon doubleheader. At 1 p.m. ET, Joey Votto and the Cincinnati Reds will host Travis Shaw and the Milwaukee Brewers in a full national telecast from Great American Ball Park. Then, the defending World Series Champion Chicago Cubs and Kris Bryant will visit PNC Park to take on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Andrew McCutchen at 4 p.

Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney’s Animation tells the story of the earliest women in Disney Animation. 

September 6

Marvel takes us to the final moments of The Force Awakens and the destruction of Starkiller Base to learn the fate of Captain Phasma. Captured by the Resistance and thrown into a garbage masher, Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Captain Phasma #1 follows the chrome-adorned warrior from the site of the First Order’s biggest defeat to the doorstep of this holiday season’s biggest blockbuster.

Dream Big Tiana as The Princess and the Frog begins a limited engagement at the El Capitan Theatre through September 20. Guests will be able to take a picture with Tiana after each show.

Disney may be pulling their movies from Netflix in 2019, but for now, you can find many Disney classics and latest films on the service. Today, Pocahontas becomes available on the service, so watch it while you can.

Halloween Time Begins at Disneyland Resort. This year, the Resort is focusing on Disney California Adventure with Haul-o-ween in Cars Land, Nightmare Before Christmas decor on Buena Vista Street, and the headlining Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark. Disney XD is airing some all-new episodes of Spider-Man. After the terror of the symbiote, Spidey is off to the Stark Expo in his old costume. When Ghost hijacks the event, Spidey’s only chance to save lives is to unleash the symbiote.

The Emmys are tonight. While ABC/Disney may not win any major awards, we will be live blogging the show from a Disney perspective.

The Good Doctor premieres on ABC. Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital’s surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, his only advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), challenges the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital’s board and staff when he brings him in to join the team. Shaun will need to work harder than he ever has before, as he navigates his new environment and relationships to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.

Following its IMAX release, Marvel’s Inhumans makes its ABC debut tonight. The limited series explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family, including “Black Bolt,” the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them but Earth itself.
