My Experience at The Lone Ranger Premiere

So today I learned the importance of making sure you have your cellphone with you…

I attended the premiere of The Lone Ranger, which was held at Disney California Adventure.  While I have attended premieres in the past, it has been quite some time so I was looking forward to seeing what the experience would end up being like.  I started the day at parking in Pumbaa as instructed.  This was a little bit of a thrill for me as I have only ever parked in the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure.  It is not every day I get to park in a Disney parking lot that I have not parked in before!!!

Well apparently this got me a little to excited, as I left my phone in the car.  I realized it while on the Anaheim Resort Transit bus that was headed to the Esplanade.  I figured, it was not big deal, so I decided not to make a return trip for it.  What a mistake.

After checking in, I began the long trek down the red carpet.  This was incredibly uncoformtable.  Thousands of fans staring at you as you walk by….examining you…. realizing that you are not nearly attractive enough to be a celebrity….  Anyway, I just wanted to get through the carpet and to my seat.

I spotted Doug and Dave from Laughingplace by Disney Junior and they were kind enough to take a break from their stellar interviewing to say hi.  I then finished the red carpet trek down towards the Hyperion Theatre.

I got to see the horse that played the role of Silver in the film, as well as get my picture taken in front of a green screen that made it appear as though I was in Utah.

Upon entering the theatre we got to select a bag that featured a Subway sandwich, a cookie, and a Subway cup filled with popcorn.  We also got to select our drink.

Our seats were assigned and I ended up in the fourth row on the side in the orchestra section.  From my seat I could spot various Disney illuminati like Roy P. Disney, Tom Staggs, Alan Horn, and Michael Colglazier.  As we sat and waited, they showed the Time Warner Cable sponsored live feed on the big screen.

As the live feed came to an end, the film began.  I will post my thoughts on the film on Tuesday.

After the cheering for the films conclusion subsided, we made our way to the Hyperion “lobby” area where there were some mini-cupcakes to sample.  We were then guided through “a bug’s land” into Cars Land.  I took a whirl on Radiator Springs Racers and then realized it was time for World of Color.

It was odd seeing World of Color with just a few hundred in attendance (many folks stayed in Cars Land or just left after the film).  It was neat to be able to move around and see the show from several vantage points.  After the show, they projected The Lone Ranger on to the mist screens as we exited through Grizzly Peak and out the Condor Flats gate.

At this point, I was able to return to Pumbaa and my phone, disappointed that I was unable to capture some photographic memories of the experience.
