Disney Cruise / Adventures by Disney Day 3: Mediterranean Delights

We had another relaxing day at sea, which I took full advantage of knowing that we were about to hit six ports in a row. I started the day with the Adventures by Disney animation class that was held in Animator’s Palette. While it was similar to the classes being offered throughout the cruise, having our Adventure Guides there added some extra “entertainment.” We were also told we were the only class that got to draw Mickey. After we created our character, the main mouse joined the party to sign our works and for pictures. We also received our pin of the day.

I then headed up on deck to enjoy some fun in the sun. I have to say, I enjoy the expanded ice cream selection having enjoyed banana, coconut, and pineapple ice cream so far. Of course, I did have to do a few laps around deck 4 to burn off my indulgence.

Later in the afternoon there was an Adventures by Disney hospitality desk on deck 10 . The idea was you could ask any questions about the upcoming ports and the guides had books and brochures of the upcoming ports. While I didn’t have any questions, I thought I would check it out. Everyone who showed up just wanted to chat so we talked about a range of Disney topics from MyMagic+ to Aladdin on Broadway. It was basically a very special edition of the LaughingPlace Podcast.

The show was the music of Beatlemaniacs. The show was a rock concert and the guests really seemed to enjoy it, but I cut out early as my brother really wanted to see Muppets Most Wanted in the Buena Vista Theatre.

Dinner was in Animator’s Palette. It was the color-transformation show that was improved vastly from the previous incarnation. Instead of sketches that seem to randomly turn from black-and-white to color and then back to black-and-white, you see the characters being sketched, painted, and animated as the dinner progresses. I enjoyed the salmon tartar, baked potato and cheddar cheese soup, and the snapper. All was delicious, but the highlight was the cookies and cream sundae. The meal still concludes with a march of servers led by Mickey. I was really impressed with the enhanced lighting and “show.” Not much was made about the improvements to this dinning location, so it was a nice surprise.

There was a late-night variety act in the Walt Disney Theatre; the acrobatics and music of Donovan & Rebecca, however with an early port call, I decided to skip it and head to bed. Our port marathon (you see what I did there) was about to begin.
