An update on some going-ons here at LaughingPlace.com and a few words about a favorite restaurant of mine.

"Beef, Pork, Chicken, Mmmm!"

Hello all. It's been quite a while since I've written an Editor's Report. There are a couple of things going on here at the site I wanted to talk about. But I think the biggest I reason I wrote this is I wanted to talk about food. I'm anything but a food critic - heck, I'm a vegetarian and there's only so much I can eat - so I don't feel right doing dining reviews. But I do sometimes like to share my personal experiences, and lately I've been doing a lot of experiencing at one of the new Disneyland Resort restaurants and wanted to talk about it.

So let's get to it!

Morning Updates
If you're a regular visitor to LaughingPlace.com, you may notice something a little different on our front page. The familiar "TOP STORY" at the top has been replaced with something like "Tuesday, June 19th Edition". And under our feature picture it now reads something like "Headlines last updated on Monday, June 18th at 2:30 p.m."

The reason for the changes is simple - starting this week LaughingPlace.com now updates twice a day instead of once. The first update occurs at 4:30 a.m. in the morning Pacific Time and contains all the new features and columns for the day. When this update goes up the "Edition" line changes at the top. The second update occurs in the afternoon and contains the day's headlines. When this update goes up, the "Headlines last updated" line is updated. These changes were made so you could read the day's features and columns as soon as possible without having to wait for the daily headline search to be completed.

As a reminder, the most convenient way to receive the daily news headlines is to sign-up for our daily newsletter. Each day, shortly after the headlines go up on the site, you'll receive an email with all the headlines and direct links to the articles. You'll also be notified of new stories on LaughingPlace.com. If you're interested in receiving the newsletter, click here to join. And, of course, it's completely free and can be discontinued at any time.

The Napa Rose
With the expansion of the Disneyland Resort this year, there're tons of new places for wonderful dining. At the top of the list is the Napa Rose, the fine dining restaurant at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. Unfortunately, it's also one of the more expensive restaurants at the Resort. However, for those who'd like to experience the Napa Rose for a bit less, there are two great options.

The first is the Napa Rose Lounge. Located right next to the restaurant, the Lounge is usually used by guests waiting to be seating. However, it's open to anyone and in addition to the full service bar and the extensive wine list, the Lounge offers appetizers and desserts straight from the Napa Rose. In fact, guests can usually order anything they want off the full Napa Rose menu, all in the very comfortable seating at the Lounge. For a nice view of the park, head out to the Cigar Terrace where a warm fire is kept running at night. Rebekah and I often head over to the Napa Rose Lounge for the grape leaves stuffed with goat cheese or a pizza or just a relaxing, comfortable place to talk. If you stick with appetizers and desserts, you get great food, great service and the great Napa Rose setting for much less than the typical Napa Rose visit.
