Grad Nite 2002!

Summerville High's Grad Nite starts on Thursday at 9:00 am.The Seniors check in their bags and Duane the drug dog checks for well....drugs. Duane didn't find anything so we loaded up! Four hours later (thank goodness for those nifty video monitors, "NO, you can't watch an R rated movie") we stop for lunch in beautiful (101 in the shade) Bakersfield. Now its onto to Buena Park High where we quickly change and head to MEDIEVAL TIMES!

Summerville Seniors Enjoying the Jousting

Medieval Times is dinner theater at its most violent. You eat with your hands while the knights use theirs to "kill' each other. If you allow yourself to get into the spirit of the place its great fun.  We were the subjects of the Black and White Knight.  (No he wasn't from an old Disney cartoon. ;o)We cheered lustily for our Champion as he cut a swath through the other WEAK knights on his way......to death at the hands of the Blue Knight, who was then betrayed by the EVIL Master of Arms, but fortunately.....I won't spoil it for you.It was now time for the Main Event:DISNEYLAND.

Grad Night Decorations on Main Street

We arrived in the Timon Parking Lot about 11:30 PM.  Cast Members did a good job moving the 21,000 Grad Niters to the front gate.(My Seniors saw it a bit differently, it took FOREVER to get into the Park. ;o)There were more decorations this year and as always it was a thrill to walk down Main Street U.S.A.  (The Rap Music was a bit jarring.)  Toontown, the back of Fantasyland, and the Rivers of the Americas were closed for Grad Nite.  So were most of the restaurants and stores. However, most other attractions were opened and VERY busy.
