Michelle looks back at Disneyland's 35th anniversary and catches you up on her theme park class.

I'll get back to the Frank and Ollie thing. Honest. Really. Next week.

Manufacturing the Magic: The History of Disneyland and Growth of the American Theme Park had its first class this past Saturday, and the online class started Monday. So far, it's a hit, and I want to thank my students for signing up and LaughingPlace.com for promoting it - all but one of the students learned about the class from LaughingPlace.com. Let me date myself: I am so stoked.

I'm hoping to have a guest speaker or two for next Saturday's class, in which we actually talk about Disneyland. Those of you who volunteered, if you're still interested and not too busy, let me know.

Speaking of Disneyland History, with the upcoming 50th anniversary, I was looking back at some of Disneyland's celebrations. I attended the 30th Anniversary with my friend Kim, and found the program for the event, a bit torn but full of memories.

I wonder what they're going to do for the 50th? I remember sleeping in Mr. Lincoln and being disappointed at showing up at the Blue Bayou, where I'd never been before, and being turned down because all the breakfast reservations had been "sold out" by 12:30. I remember going through Tomorrowland and seeing people sleeping on the floor in the family phone booth, and meeting Dick Nunis, and the skywriting and confetti that was all joined together.

This is the last time I'm going to ask for this: would anyone like to share a memory of David Mumford's chats or NFFC convention appearances, or a WDI memory? If so, email me at [email protected]. I've been asked to write a profile of David for a Disney-related publication. Thanks.
