Today LaughingPlace.com turns 7 years old!

Recognize that logo? If you've been around LaughingPlace.com since Day 1, you just might. Actually that logo was only used during the beta phase of the site, it didn't make it to opening day. The opening day logo...

...lasted for quite a while. It was eventually replaced with...

... which was replaced with the logo you see up there today. And thanks to the Internet Archive WayBack Machine, you can even see what the LaughingPlace.com front page looked like in its early days. Click here for our November 17, 1999 front page.

So as you can see, things have changed a lot around here. But the basics remain the same ... our goal is still to be the best source of Disney news and information on the Internet, and to have the best community for Disney fans to come together and talk Disney and everything else. That's what we set out to do in 1999 and that continues to be our goal today.

When I look back on the past 12 months the list of accomplishments (for lack of a better word) doesn't look as extensive as in previous years. However, much is happening behind the scenes. Some are changes that make it easier for us to keep the site updated. Some are changes that have yet to make their debut on the site. As usual, we prefer not to talk specifics, but we do have many things in the works for the upcoming year that we hope you'll enjoy.

Thank You!
LaughingPlace.com couldn't have made it 7 weeks, let alone 7 years, without the enormous contributions of people far too numerous to mention. But you've seen their names on articles and elsewhere so please join me in thanking each and every one of them for all they do for LP.

I also want to again thank the LaughingPlace.com community for being as wonderful as it is. Anyone can set up Discussion Boards (and many have) and anyone can set up rules, but it takes a wonderful group of community members to make it take off and make it last and I thank you all for that. And a special thank you to the Board administrators who do what's usually a thankless job, and do it amazingly well.

I'd also like to thank our advertisers, especially Mouse Ear Vacations and Howard Johnson: Anaheim. Without them there would absolutely be no LaughingPlace.com today.

And lastly, I'd like to thank my wife and partner Rebekah. The most important person in my life and the only real reason LaughingPlace.com came to be in the first place. Thanks for her daily work on the website and for just being there.

On behalf of Rebekah, thank you all and here's to a great future!

Doobie.
