Young Heroines
Who says boys can have all the fun?
(It's interesting to note that all five of the following actresses
made their cinematic debuts in Disney films.)

Fairuza Balk had big ruby slippers to fill in the role of Dorothy Gale in The Return to Oz. Balk has since grown-up and moved onto edgier fare, including Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead, The Craft, American History X and Almost Famous.

Anne Hathaway made an impressive screen debut in this past summer's sleeper hit, The Princess Diaries. She brought a spunky spark to newly revealed royalty Mia Thermopolis, both before and after her transformation from "ugly duckling" to "swan".

Another auspicious first film, Lindsay Lohan portrayed both the prim Annie and the sassy Hallie in the 1998 Parent Trap remake. She ably stepped into the roles created by Hayley Mills and Hayley Mills (both seen elsewhere in this article) in the classic 1961 original.

Leslie Ann Warren made her screen debut as Cordelia Drexel Biddle in 1967's The Happiest Millionaire, and followed that up in another Sherman Brothers musical opposite John Davidson the next year as Alice Bower in The One & Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.
