lot #22 Celebration Mickey

preview 10.JPG (20683 bytes)

I haven’t quite made up my mind on this one. This was either the ultimate collectable - or - the ultimate joke about collecting. With a "portion" of the proceeds going to charity it’s a pity I’m not the only one who couldn’t decide.

High Estimate:
Medium: 24 kt gold
Sold for: didn’t make it’s $700,000.00 reserve or it’s $1,000,000.00 selling point

lot #23 Disneyland Poster Display

Own a piece of Disneyland? Cool! Remember when you’d go to the park and look at the kiosks to see if the posters had changed? Someone will have a very cool display. It’s the availability of pieces like this one that give the ODC’s auction such clout among the serious collectors.

High Estimate: $9,000
Medium: Mixed Media
Sold for: $2,500.00

lot #27 Haunted Mansion - Pre-Production Painting/Original 1964 Disneyland Record

An appropriate lot - and a cool one. With the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay around the corner it was fun to see a very unique Haunted Mansion item. Any Mansion fan would love to be able to add the original acrylic painting used as cover art for an LP titled "Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House," released on Disneyland Records (number DQ-1257) in May 1964 to their collection.

Size: 39"H x 37"W

High Estimate: $2,000
Medium: Acrylic
Sold for: $3,000.00

lot #28 Dopey Tile Jewelry Box

Another variation on the screened tiles available for bid, and another one-of-a-kind piece. This Ollie Johnston animated sequence of Dopey - hand signed - was fashioned into a large jewelry box, which was handcrafted for White Horse Studio by Tilley Wood Creations. At that price, I can’t imagine what I’d use it for - but it’s very cool.

Artist: Ollie Johnston - White Horse Studio
Low Estimate: $1,000
High Estimate: $2,000
Medium: Mixed Media

lot #30 Goofy, Mickey Mouse, and Peg Leg Pete as Pirates

preview 17.JPG (15107 bytes)

This was a very cute set of three one-of-a-kind figures from sculptor David Kracov. Each of the three figures was hand-sculpted from more than 60 distinct pieces of colored polymer clay. The time and attention to detail made this lot collectable - the subject, theme and the artist just added to the collectability.
