In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Walt Disney’s birth the Disneyland Gallery will unveil a new exhibition of the work of Eric Robison with a Grand Opening Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the The Disney Gallery, New Orleans Square, Disneyland ® Park. Eric was commissioned to create the One-Hundred pieces - Celebrating Walt Disney's 100th Birthday - in a variety of styles and using a variety of art media - from the classic oil on canvas to charcoal sketches and from finger paints to Japanese ink brush. Mickey will be portrayed in all his many moods all in Eric’s wonderfully animated style. Eric holds the record as the most represented artist at the Disneyland Gallery.

A first-of-it’s-kind merchandise/art exhibit at the Gallery will feature the addition of some very cool new printmaking technology with the launch a new "Print on Demand" technology - which premiered at the Official Disneyana Convention last year at the DLR and available only at the Disneyland Resort. This new printmaking system will allow guests to choose the art work to be printed and offer a variety of surfaces - from fine art papers to canvas - on which the print will be made. Gallery guests will be able to purchase and take home a lithograph in fifteen minutes or a Fine Art Print on canvas in just under thirty minutes. Images in the exhibit will have edition sizes and will be offered for print until that limit is reached.

Prices are set depending on image, size and print surface, stretching and framing services will also be offered at additional rates. All of Eric’s original One-Hundred images will also be available for sale at their appraised values - between $500-$9,000. But guests can have the same quality in a high resolution ink-jet print - similar to giclee technology - for a much smaller price - a 28.5" x 36" on Fine Art Paper will sell at $35.00, a 36" x 48" on Fine Art Paper will sell at about $45, or a print on Canvas in 28.5" x 36" will sell at $125.00. The papers and canvas used are acid-free and will withstand - with proper framing and care - years of display enjoyment without fading.

For a sneak peak at the images in the One-Hundred Mickeys exhibit, you can surf on by www.100mickeys.com - after February 8th - for a preview of the images in the exhibit. This exhibit and merchandise release/printmaking opportunity is being run by the team at Disneyland Merchandise Specialized Businesses. Some of the details of sale have not been determined - like whether the images will be available through DelivEars and if smaller versions of the prints - postcard size to 8" x 10" - will be produced. Ideas for merchandise tie-ins include a screensaver program and a "coffee table" book. As a Mickey collector I have my fingers crossed that other merchandise will be produced featuring the art - from cups to key chains and from note cards to pins - this is a merchandiser’s golden opportunity and a Mickey collector’s dream.

At the NFFC Kick-Off 2002 Marion Edwards also mentioned a park-wide promotional tie-in with DLR Out Door Vending - a series of collectable popcorn buckets featuring all One-Hundred images will be available at all park ODV popcorn carts with a information about the Gallery exhibit beginning in late February. As Marion explained, "We are so excited to have the opportunity to include this in both our popcorn buckets and hot beverage cups as a collectible series throughout the run of the Gallery exhibit. The series art for the cups and popcorn buckets will each be unique and should prove to be great fun for both the art enthusiast and collector alike."
