The Toon Talk Top 10 - The Beautiful Briny Deep:

Like Shark Tale, many Disney films have memorable sequences set under the sea:

  1. Pinocchio (1940) - Pinocchio’s daring adventures take him to the bottom of the ocean, where he meets a monstrous whale named, well, Monstro.
  2. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) - Captain Nemo leads the Nautilus to its titular destination in this landmark live action classic.
  3. Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) - Eglantine, Emelius and the children fly their enchanted bed into the lagoon of the Isle of Naboombu, just in time for a musical number.
  4. The Little Mermaid (1989) - Hans Christian Andersen’s fanciful undersea kingdom of the mer-people comes to life in this animated favorite.
  5. James and the Giant Peach (1996) - A familiar face makes a surprise appearance in an underwater sequence set aboard a sunken pirate ship.
  6. Fantasia 2000 (2000) - More whales appear in the memorable “Pines of Rome�? segment.
  7. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) - The quest for the lost continent leads our heroes beneath the sea for this sci fi adventure.
  8. Ghosts of the Abyss (2003) - Oscar-winning director James Cameron takes us back to Titanic in this breathtaking documentary.
  9. Finding Nemo (2003) - Pixar takes you to an underwater wonderland in this Academy Award-winning hit.
  10. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) - The undead skeletal crew of Captain Barbossa take a stroll on the ocean floor in the film’s climatic scenes.

October 26th:

  • Jackie Chan, Jim Broadbent and Steve Coogan star in the adventure comedy remake of Jules Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days.

November 2nd:

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is re-released with a third disc of “lost treasures�? featuring more bonus features.
  • The patriotic documentary America’s Heart and Soul from director Louis Schwartzberg.
  • And Columbia Tri-Star Home Video releases a two-disc special edition of Cirque du Soliel: La Nouba, filmed live at the Walt Disney World Resort.
