Mickey's Christmas Parade ("The
Nutcracker") - Page 1
The parade itself is not particular unique or special for the season. This daytime
parade is themed towards the Nutcracker suite of music by Tchaikovsky. The parade
commences with the Fab Five leading the procession. Each float that follows is used to
indicate a particular suite of music and recycles the parade floats from the now ancient
Wonderful World of Disney parade (we are all praying for a new 10th Anniversary parade for
2002 but the odds seem slim at best now). Therefore the parade features Cinderella, Beauty
and the Beast, the Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty and Aladdin, usually preceded by
dancers dressed in Nutcracker costumes like thistle and tulips.
The final float is unique for Christmas and is an elaborate sleigh being "pulled" by four reindeer. Santa arrives to a medley of Christmas tunes including Silent Night, O Christmas Tree and Jingle Bells as arranged by DLPs longtime musical director, Vasile Sirli.
