Train Status Board

I discussed a number of things about the maintenance, if you look behind you, you can see a status board. We ensure that the trains are ready for operation by having a green tag. No train is put into service unless it is checked thoroughly with an 88 point check each night. Green tag, we’re operational.

I think that’s all I had to say. Greg, do you have anything to add?

Hale: The check is very important. If anything is detected on the ride, there’ll be a yellow tag put on it so the vehicle will be taken out, serviced until it goes through all the checking, rechecking and then a green tag will be put back onto it saying it's o.k. to go back into service. So that happens every single night as they go through all their checks on the ride vehicles to make sure they’re o.k. to open the next morning. Once maintenance completes their checks, operations begins their own checks and they will go through a multi-point check list to, again, assure, everything is running properly. They will run the ride without guests to make sure everything is functioning as it should before we allow the first guest to ride each morning.

(Next they demonstrated the track switch for bring another train online)

Hale: To take trains on and off we have this very sophisticated track switch with three different spur tracks. If we detect any problem with a ride vehicle we can zip it right off of the ride, put it into the maintenance bay, and bring another fresh train right back onto the ride. These switches are something that don’t come standard on most ride systems. Something that, because of the capacity we run on our rides and the readiness we want to have, we had these ready spares ready to go on the ride.

You have one fin traditionally used on a coaster for breaking, this one has six.. three that are used for the magnetic field to propel the vehicle forward, two that used for braking that can gripped and stopped and then the other one that is used for positioning and providing the control for the magnetic field so it pulls the train along like a wave in the ocean that it rides on.

Today’s technology allows these ride systems to run more safely than they could’ve years ago.
